WHEN we began our Lets Move! initiative four years ago, we set one simple but ambitious goal: to end the epidemic of childhood obesity in a generation so that kids born today will grow up healthy.
To achieve this goal, we have adhered to one clear standard: what works. The initiatives we undertake are evidence-based, and we rely on the most current science. Research indicated that kids needed less sugar, salt and fat in their diets, so we revamped school lunch menus accordingly. When data showed that the lack of nearby grocery stores negatively affected peoples eating habits, we worked to get more fresh-food retailers into underserved areas. Studies on habit formation in young children drove our efforts to get healthier food and more physical activity into child care centers.
Today, we are seeing glimmers of progress. Tens of millions of kids are getting better nutrition in school; families are thinking more carefully about food they eat, cook and buy; companies are rushing to create healthier products to meet the growing demand; and the obesity rate is finally beginning to fall from its peak among our youngest children.
So we know that when we rely on sound science, we can actually begin to turn the tide on childhood obesity.
But unfortunately, were now seeing attempts in Congress to undo so much of what weve accomplished on behalf of our children....

we should all “Let’s Move!©” to an island somewhere and start over.
Pi$$-off you ugly cow—Nobody elected you to anything.
This woman is insane. How can she expect the nation’s public school to follow “her rules” but then have her daughters attend a school that has pizza, ice cream, and Quesadilla (includes melted cheese and sour cream)? It is so stunning that the American Public allow themselves to be bamboozled by these two phonies. I can’t believe it.
I posted this article earlier today and it appeared to be removed.
Can anyone tell me why? It was properly excerpted.
Leave the food alone and bring back the President’s Physical Fitness Program.
Not a moderator and don’t want to be one. LOL
You didn’t provide a link. And please stop posting to “moder_ator.” That was a sham account that is deleted. No one sees your posts to it.
STFU wildebeest.
Free agency and the ability to choose isn't in the Statist philosophy
So when you roll up in the lunchline , in order to fulfill the President's Physical Fitness Program, and they are serving Quesadillos and tacos,
You should say : " Fore " ??
OH, FO, First Beotch....
I don't really care if it's photoshopped, the relative sizes are appropriate.
Brilliant use there of Let’s move! We need a bumper sticker.
“LET’S MOVE! Michele’s menu OUT and SIDWELL FRIEND’S menu IN our public schools.”
(Not sure the Obama daughters are still in SF, but we all know the difference in their menu and Moochell’s cram down menu in public schools.)
The issue is not,”What is healthy?” but, rather, “Who is going to make the rules?” “What gives the federal government the right to get to dictate the content of school lunches?”
I think Laz is in the running for Moderator post?
