Sheah Right.

He doesn’t have any offers for $2.5 billion.

But, he can value the plantation. ...erh, team at whatever he wants, including priceless.

I hope he wins and sticks it these avaricious A-holes.

regardless of what is said,a private conversation taped without consent is not a legal basis to force anyone to do anything.

doesn’t matter if sterling was talking about adam silver and his pet goat, the NBA is playing PC tyrant and should not get away with this.

If he has an offer of $2.5 billion then there’s an idiot out there somewhere. The team isn’t worth $600 million.

The legality of illegality of the recording is a matter for the police. The NBA can use whatever information they want to make their decisions.

Luckily companies still have freedoms to do as they wish. I know some want communism and rules to keep people they don’t want but that seems like unions where folks that are not worthy to work at the place must be kept. I thought we were done with that. The NBA does not want Sterling anymore. Isn’t that enough for a private company?

If he's really selling then he's been told by his legal advisors that he'd lose and he's thrown in the towel.

Hell it may turn out V actually helped him retire and get 5 times what he would have otherwise. Meanwhile the media is blasting her for being a gold digger and the wife looks like she may end up recalling all those goody gifts and slapping her in the face like she deserves.

“Donald Sterling may now be saying he disavows anything Shelly Sterling is doing to sell the Clippers ... but TMZ Sports has obtained a letter personally signed by Donald giving Shelly control ... and he sent the letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

In the letter — obtained by TMZ Sports — dated May 22, 2014, Sterling’s lawyer writes:

“As you know, I have been a long-time attorney for Donald T. Sterling. Mr. Sterling agrees to the sale of his interest in the Los Angeles Clippers.”

The letter goes on: “This letter confirms that Donald T. Sterling authorizes Rochelle Sterling to negotiate with the National Basketball Association regarding all issues in connection with a sale of the Los Angeles Clippers team, owned by LAC Basketball Club, Inc.”

Below the lawyers signature is Donald Sterling’s John Hancock, saying “read and approved.”

So ... Sterling’s lawyer may now says he’s unaware of any deal his client made with Shelly, but Donald did the deed on paper and it was signed, sealed and delivered...”

TV news last night claimed he’s refusing to sell (they rejected idea of turning team over to his wife) and that if he did sell, he would lose hundreds of millions of dollars in capital gains taxes

He'd better have a long talk with his wife then because she's moving forward soliciting bids. She'd retained Bank of America as intermediary and they're making the Clippers's financial records available to the serious contenders.

Nobody in their right mind would buy that team right now - they would be in for years of lawsuits.

So, the team won’t be sold, I’d say Sterling just “checked” his chess opponent - the league.

They have to abide by their contract and I don't see how any private behavior can be covered by the contract.

That they can. But if Sterling's only case is that the information was obtained illegally then that won't help him. He admitted he was on the tape and the Commissioner has the authority to ban and fine him. Sterling's chances of winning are far from a slam dunk.

When the commissioner decides that private behavior is detremental to the best interests of the association. You should read the NBA constitution. Obama wishes he had the blank check that the league gives the commissioner. Silver can literally ban an owner and fine him up to $2.5 million for almost anything.
