Original Title:The Obama Lie That Was So Bad the Washington Post Said, ‘On Just About Every Level, This Claim is Ridiculous’

President Barack Obama earned “four Pinocchios” from the Washington Post Fact Checker, the highest ranking for a political lie, for asserting that Republicans filibustered 500 pieces of legislation, an exaggeration of nearly five times the reality.

Obama spoke at a fundraising event for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Los Angeles Wednesday, and made the charge against Republican lawmakers.

“Here’s what’s more disconcerting; their willingness to say no to everything — the fact that since 2007, they have filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation that would help the middle class just gives you a sense of how opposed they are to any progress — has actually led to an increase in cynicism and discouragement among the people who were counting on us to fight for them,” Obama said.

The Post unsparingly said of the president’s assertion, “On just about every level, this claim is ridiculous.”

It is very hard for be to believe that the motivation for the Washington Post's new found sense of morality, consciousness is that the lie was too egregious even for them to continue covering it up and called the President out based on a sense of moral indignation, honesty, principle.

No. If the Washington Post was still managed, operated on the basis of the felonious journalistic protocols they have been following for decades, the MSM approach to reporting the news would have continued unabated.

What I believe was the reason the Washington Post took this approach because Jeff Bezos, of Amazon.com, the recent new owner of the Washington Post is simply not a journalist in the old-school-journalism-Dan-Rather approach to reporting the news.

He does have whatever higher standards it took for him to say it, report what he felt in a more straight-forward way then what was once the modus-operandi of the press since the dinosaurs began to roam.

Don't think for single moment that the Washington Post, MSM, journalists in particular have had a change of heart.

At least 5 years ago I suggested that the MSM, should and would begin to attack each other.

It is a tremendous opportunity to generate revenue.

While the Post didn’t attack their peers, their break from the established narrative will make them a target.

This could get very interesting.

Their Democrat President and Democrat President-To-Be have been up to some really bad stuff, and the Washington Post has been blindly supporting them. This is an insurance policy. If Obama and Hillary really go down the tubes, the Post can say, “We didn’t know! Turns out Obama is a liar! You can’t prosecute us! We’re victims!”

Maybe they can scratch that into their cell walls.

We realize that Senate rules are complex and difficult to understand, but the president did serve in the Senate and should be familiar with its terms and procedures

That is an assumption totally lacking in supporting evidence

As a former newspaper editor, I like your attitude. With print withering on the vine, there's no reason the Post shouldn't go after the New York Times, for example. Give 'em hell, revel in their mistakes. Get yourself a by-God newspaper war going. Sells papers.

You might be right. The other thing is that libs love the party more than Obama, and eventually they might have to turn away from him if they want to win in 2016.

Liberals are possessed of insufficient imagination to conceive of such a notion.

You're exactly right, they're just like the Taliban and Al qaeda, when they run out of enemies to kill, they will turn on each other.

Yep.

An all out “Newspaper War” may actually be the only thing that can save them. It would be great !!!

In the meantime, not until ABCCBSNBCCNNMSNBCFOX begin to expose their competitors corruption (for ratings), will we actually begin to get anywhere near an “informed public”.

Fox has really stepped up their exposure of the rest of the media in the past year thanks to the folks at MRC. At some point I suspect a few more Exec’s will figure this out.

If ABC, for example, reported on the miss reporting etc of NBC, for example, on their nightly news broadcast, and NBC did the same, they would more than double their audience virtually overnight.

A report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler’s psychological profile:

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

Yeah...but did we know that he really didn't know what a filibuster was, even though he served in both the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate? OK, to be fair...he was only in the U.S. Senate for about 45 minutes before he started running for President, but still...
