Ukrainians form militias to defend nation against chaos
Kyiv Post ^ | May 7, 2014, 11:13 p.m. | Mark Rachkevych

In the absence of effective military forces or law enforcement, Ukrainians are taking the defense of the nation in their own hands through loosely organized militias.

One of them popped up in a YouTube video on May 2.

Although the group was unidentified, the clip was posted by a pro-Ukrainian group of former military and law enforcement officers, calling themselves the Donbass Volunteer Battalion. The video shows men armed with Kalashnikov rifles and clad in black ninja outfits dismantling a Kremlin-backed roadblock near Krasnoarmiysk in western Donetsk Oblast.

The national warriors also claim that 15 pro-Russian rebels were handed over to the police and that three Kalashnikovs were recovered.

The group’s leader, Semyon Semenchenko, wrote on his Facebook page that the group is “taking up arms and structuring like the Ukrainian Insurgent Army,” the World War II era partisan group that fought both Nazi Germany and Soviet NKVD units in a futile attempt to gain national independence for Ukraine.

I notice you Putinistas are more and more initiating personal attacks the past couple of days.

I point out that the November 30, 2013 violence by Yanukovich's Berkut against the protesters was unjustifiable.

You respond by throwing spam.

Doesn't make you look intelligent.

Simply put..Ukraine was infiltrated by ouside ‘political’ interested parties who had no business in Ukraines affairs, and this in order to control the outcome of the Protests, which now have unelected, and purposely set Gov. officials seleted by the USA. There should be no question why Putin is responding the way that he is....Good to remember the Cuba Missle Crisis and how we reacted as a nation when Russia was attempting to set itself up on our doorstep. Ukraine has always been divided within...nothing political parties do is going to change that because the "perception" in the eyes of the Ukrainians is they are fighting 'now' a war against the Nazi's because the current Kiev Gov. has members of such running things there...and they want no part of it. It doesn't matter what we think...it's what the Ukraines believe and are acting on.

You know they seldom present anything substantial to back up what they are saying....they just throw the dirt. Not worth even arguing with IMO...they cannot debate, that is not their purpose.

On another note...very interesting to have recently “hovered” over a conversation among EU Member leaders regarding the EU/Nato and the disarray it’s currently in....they are split on how they see the situation with Russia and Ukraine... This is why little is coming out and their silence pretty deafening in light of all that’s occurred.

That split is similar to what we see on FR with the old cold war relics and those who recognize it’s more important to focus on what the facts are revealing rather than what they want them to be.

Just so you know...there is already discussion on “changing” the EU/Nato from enlarging it’s membership countries to taking care of the current ones, and getting unity among it’s current members, which basically are a “mess” regarding Ukraine and most everything else.

Most interesting is talk to how they can bring Russia back into the International Community without loosing face, after all the “mistakes” and “War-mongering” of the USA and other “war Horses” attempts to push an Anti-Russia agenda, which they now admit was the worst thing the media and countries are doing....and this unfairly so.

EU is “afraid” if this goes on to much longer they will loose any opportunity to heal the rift between themselves and Russia...they are blaming the USA...and rightfully so for forcing so many issues that didn’t need to be pushed. But then Nato IS basically the USA so they couldn’t say much to oppose them in the beginning.

They also agree the USA is in the lead regarding Ukraine..and of course why Europe is so quiet. The cannot do a thing even if they wanted to.

>>>>>Nothing in Yugoslavia can be termed a genocide>>>>>

True. There was only one crime that fits definition of genocide as per UN Genocide convention - genocide of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia during WWII.

However, the facts are irrelevant for the powers that be. ICTY kangaroo court brought the verdict that genocide happened in Srebrenica in 1995. If justification used in ICTY ruling is applied, even killing a single person can be called genocide.

This fake genocide in Srebrenica 1995 was used as justification for NATO to attack Serbia in 1999 to "prevent genocide of Albanias" and litter Serbia with depleted uranium, thus "deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part".

And travesty did not stop there. Croatia frivolously accused Serbia of genocide and attempted to press charges in the World Court. This travesty is still going on, Croatia being ridiculed for frivolous claims. But they do not care - genocide charge is used to hide the real genocide of attrition on her soil.

Since the players who meddled in violent dissolution of Yugoslavia are present in events in Ukraine today, it is justified to use their own terminology.

I don't think I've ever used the phrase 'Paid Russian," though I have accused people of being puppets and backers of the regime; and I most certainly do not accuse everyone of being a Russian.

Just do it, it's a lot easier. And the response is the same.

>>>>>>If you claim the evidence is there that Right Sector has members in the government, you should be able to show me rather easily what their names are, when they were elected, or what position they have been appointed to, if any of that applies.<<<<<

Andriy Parubiy. Secretary of the Security and National Defense Committee (RNBO), which supervises the defense ministry and the armed forces. Parubiy was leading Right Sector thugs in Kiev.

Dmytro Yarosh, leader of the Right Sector. Parubiy’s deputy.

Oleksandr Sych, a Svoboda deputy prime minister for economic affairs.

Svoboda holds Education Ministry (Serhiy Kvit), the Ecology Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry (Andriy Makhnyk and Ihor Shvaiko),

Svoboda member of parliament Oleh Makhnitsky was named prosecutor-general of the Ukraine.

Foxes guarding the hen house.

Parubiy and Oleh Tyahnybok in 1991 founded the neo-Nazi Social-Nationalist Party of Ukraine, later renamed Svoboda. In 1999 Paruby founded the SNPU's paramilitary arm, Ukrainian Patriot, which today is a component of Right Sector.

>>>>>>Nice to know which side you will be on when the reconquista comes to the southwest US<<<<<

You know nothing, only make vile accusation. Better think who is allowing that anyone who can walk, swim and jump come to the U.S. illegally, who is forcing teachers to admit their chilren to school, who is issuing drivers licenses to them, and so on.

Then you'll know who is aiding reconquista.

>>>>>>No you deserve the Duranty Award for your denial that Russians were involved in the Holodomor. <<<<<<<

You protect Communists, just like Duranty, so Duranty award is all yours.

Soviet Union under Lenin and Stalin was bloodthirsty dictatorship, run by Communist Party Politburo and secret police. Until the late 1930s,the majority of cadres in the Politburo, top party positions and secret police (Cheka, NKVD) were not ethnic Russians.

Murderous Cheka was organized by a Pole from Poland.

Holodomor was the result of the Communist policy, not an act of Russian people as you attempt to misinterpret it.

Nice try, Comrade FreeReign.

No you deserve the Duranty Award for your denial that Russians were involved in the Holodomor.

You protect Communists, just like Duranty, so Duranty award is all yours.

Your comment is nonsense. Shall I list the Russian communists for you.

And you were the poster who earlier in the thread tried to deny the existence of Ukrainian ethnicity. Yet you turn around on the dime and split hairs about Bolshevik, Menshevik, Marxist Russian Socialist, Stalin's Georgian DNA.

Most Ukrainians don't want to be annexed by Russia.

Russia STF out of Ukraine.

A few facts for you.

“Russia has invaded the Ukraine.” AFTER a violent, anti-Russian, US-financed (by Victoria Nuland’s own admission) coup.

You forgot to mention the part where the legit government falls in a US-financed, violent, ant-Russian coup. I fixed it for you.

You have fixed nothing, let me help you with the facts, not Russian fiction. The govt you refer to as legit was a puppet govt under the thumb of Putin and the Russian Intel services. The Ukrainian people left, right and center had enough and threw them out after facing months of violence from the forces of this corrupt thieving puppet govt. This violence was done against peaceful protesters and finally the Ukrainian people fought back with sticks and stones and chased the thugs in power from the land.

Putin and his thugs are pissed his puppet govt is gone and cannot continue to siphon billions of $ out of Ukraine and pull the strings as he wishes.

Most of the current violence has come from Russian special forces and Russian Ukrainian thugs against all other Ukrainians who are the vast majority of the Ukrainian population.

Ukrainians have not invaded Russia..... Russians have invaded Ukrainian and hold territory that is sovereign Ukrainian territory and they need to get hell out. Any time any Russian in Ukraine wants to be part of Russia they can pack their bags and go to Russia.

Fixed!

See post 94...no sense repeating myself to correct your omissions and twisting of who was infiltrating who.

Yes let’s let the Ukraine people decide and it is clear they want the Russian invaders to leave their nation and to have legitimate elections without Russia’s intervention to put another puppet govt in place.

The Ukrainian may elect a bad govt but it will be their bad govt.

And the MILLIONS of Ukranians who lost their lives in the Holodomor are spinning in their (mass) graves.

Put their pictures up. Then you'll know why these Ukrainians will resist Russia to the end.

Recall if you will the long video of weeks past.

A sniper controlled a street. The Ukrainian patriots advanced any way. I think I saw twenty get killed as they moved slowly forward with no weapons at all, only makeshift shields.

Others came to advance and still others to drag the bodies of the fallen back. They prevailed

Now they are armed......
