When it comes to running for president at least at this early stage a famous name sure helps.
So it is in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, in which some of the most recognizable potential candidates Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan lead a crowded 2016 Republican field, albeit none with anything near a clear advantage.
Moving on to a hypothetical matchup between Bush and Hillary Clinton, the Democrat leads, boosted by a huge gender gap and with a more popular clan, as well. Sixty-six percent of Americans express a favorable view of her famous family, vs. 54 percent for Bushs.

That’s probably why the GOP always goes for a retread, no matter how dismal his prospects.
It’s true that name recognition is important. People associate it with a time when they were happy, unhappy, whatever. Oddly enough, most people were doing quite well under W., until the Dem-engineered collapse at the end, so the Bush name might not be that off-putting, despite the efforts of the press. That doesn’t mean I think he’d be good - I’m just addressing the name recognition issue.
Personally, I’d like to see Rubio, Walker or Jindal, but I don’t think they have much of a chance because they don’t have name recognition. So this is an important and interesting point.
One of the reasons they don’t have it, of course, is because most of the reporting on them is totally negative, whereas with people like Fauxcahontas, it has been completely positive, so I could see her going up against Hillary Clinton and winning. And this is true even though the Clinton name is very well known, shall we say.
The D’s have so tarnished the Bush name that anybody named Bush who wants to run for office really must change his name first! How about Bupenoza or BuTwoBit or Bushinski or ? Anything but BUSH!
(the above comment has nothing to with whether Jeb might someday make a really fine, or a really rotten President... the name, my friends, the name, its all in the the name!

Will we be cursed with the Clintons one more time? It’s enough to make one look for another country.
Cruz/ Pence - 2016
I’m hoping that Sarah Palin will just continue to work outside the system instead of subjecting herself to THAT mess again. No one is “perfection”, and no one can please everyone all the time. Just don’t like to see her put herself through THAT storm of media feces (a la “Katie” Couric) again. Now, it’s “Katie WHO?” and Sarah’s the Darling. What goes around, comes around.
Wow an 8% “lead” of Rand Paul over Ted Cruz. A real “lead” there.
And a 2% “lead” for Christie over Cruz. Sheesh.
Push your agenda much, ABC?
NAME RECOGNITION IS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY.
THAT IS A LIE.
ODUMBO WAS UNKOWN, OTHER THAN TO A FEW CHICAGOANS AND A FEW ELITES PRIOR TO RUNNING FOR OFFICE.
THE MEDIA, FULLY CONTROLLED BY OUR REAL RULERS, FINANCIAL ELITES...
GIVES ALL THE PUBLICITY NECESSARY TO PUT A PERSON THAT IS VIRTUALLY UNKNOWN IN THE WHITE HOUSE.
Ping.
Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.[Posted on 01/31/2013 5:08:50 PM PST by xzins]
Pence is definitely interesting and very polished in addition to having good positions.
I don’t see Cruz being at the top of the ticket though. He’s great, but he doesn’t seem to click media-wise and he’s not very good in personal appearances. However, anything could change.
I’d vote for Cruz, as things stand. I saw him being interviewed on C-SPAN some time back, off the cuff, and he did very well.

Partisan divisions are 32-21-38 percent, Democrats-Republicans-independents.

Over sample Dims much, ABC/WaPo? Of course you do!
What these *polls* tell me is that Dims choose Randy Paul, Hucklebee, Lyin’ Ryan, Jebbie Bush and Krispy over the other contenders. Oh, and that they choose Hildebeast over Jebbie.
Okay, whatever.
Good point.
The accolades (Nobel etc) given to the “unknown” transcendent, traveller by puppet-makers/masters and the “hope and change” meme continue to mesmerize many morons.
