MILITIA TO BLM: ‘WE ARE PREPARED TO USE DEADLY FORCE’
Breitbart ^ | April 24, 2014 | By Bob Price

Posted on 04/25/2014 2:43:35 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

One of the militia groups who joined the effort to “protect” the Bundy family and their ranch from the armed Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rangers admitted they are prepared to use deadly force in self-defense in Nevada or Texas. Several militia groups have joined ranks to provide “protection” to keep the BLM from taking property from the Bundy Ranch, most of which operates on federally owned land.

Scott Shaw, co-founder of the Oklahoma Volunteer Militia says he is just an average American who goes to work every day and pays his taxes. He described his militia members as “every-day citizens ...We just have a strong conviction for freedom and liberty and upholding the Constitution. We are just here in case our court system fails us and we have to stand up to the federal government.”

In talking about the armed force of BLM rangers, Shaw described it as questionable. “If you’re there to get your money back that [Cliven Bundy] allegedly owes you, there are several ways you can do that in a court of law. You can put a lien on his property; you can put a lien on his cattle. If it truly was about getting back the back fees, why did [the BLM] take the cattle, or round the cattle up, which are the asset you’re going to sell--why would you kill several of those?” Recent reports revealed several cattle that were killed allegedly by the BLM during the standoff earlier this month.

Shaw affirmed that his militia members who deployed to Nevada were armed with a variety of military style weapons including AR-15s, AK-47s and others. They also include precision shooting firearms like deer hunting rifles and other military surplus items...

for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings

I'd be inclined to start right there. We need to at least start by enforcing the Constitution as written without having to repeat the requirement with an amendment. The feds need to prove what is "needful" in the lands they own. Much of it is obviously not "needful" to the feds, all those badlands and deserts in the west. It's koo-koo. So moves should be made by the states to rescind their consent for those lands the feds don't "need" and force a buy-back at a fair and reasonable price.

Failing that, then yes, add land mass to the CoC proposed by the Citizens for Self Governance.

Adams, while exemplary in several respects, was also one of the chief proponents of a grasping Federalism.

Given his druthers, there'd likely have been no state sovereignty.

Where to start. First the author must not know much about firearms. “...They also include precision shooting firearms like deer hunting rifles and other military surplus items...” At the range I go to neither of those would necessarily be classified as “precision shooting firearms” during a bench rest match. Then again, they might be more than good enough to disable a “man sized” target as a few hundred yards.

Now, in most States there is language that defines justifiable homicide and the use of deadly force. Most of them are tied to what a reasonable man would do to protect the life or protect from sever bodily harm a person with a deadly weapon or someone the person with the deadly weapons feels is in danger.

The real question is what would a “reasonable man” do in a situation where he has the ability to use deadly force to protect someone from being killed or harmed. An interesting question, if the threat also happens to be a government employee.

Personally, I would not want to try to guess how a jury would come down on the question, but I sure would jump at an opportunity to be on that jury so as to let the government know how I feel about their militarization of various government agencies.

“Would make for a quality father/son weekend .. build a tortoise trebuchet .. perfect time for ‘the talk’ about the Constitutional birds/bees !”

What a perfectly appropriate comment, tomkat.

Hell’s bells, let’s build a tortoise habitat around the Bundy ranch. We can do a tortoise village to surround the Bundy ranch.

We can build tortoise villages that include tortoise houses, tortoise reproduction pools and family tortoise homes.

Then when the the BLM Nazis attack, we can can accuse them of killing turtles. The kids will go nuts and hate president Buckwheat and his gestapo goons.

I seriously doubt that the gents who wrote the Constitution, creating a “Federal” government to do things better done “collectively” rather than by the states individually, intended for their creation to control the majority of land west of the continental divide.

I do not acknowledge any interpretation that suggests they did.

The whole Fox News team has proven what a bunch of sniveling, pc, boot-licking cowards they all are. So much for journalism on their part. When King O’Reilly says it; it’s groundbreaking. When Cliven Bundy says it; it’s rascist and appalling.

“Our little fighter “Brave” couldn’t be brave anymore. He left us early this morning. We tried all night to help him and save him but he was to abused. The BLM and those contract cowboys should be ashamed. Those were not real cowboys, real cowboys know how to take care of cattle. Not kill them!”

Clive Bundy, on one of the baby cows that died today.
