The “ENLIST” Act. ROTFL! Freakin’ liberals. Homosexuals and people who unable to understand one another. Should provide us with a fabulous military.

Immigration is not effected one bit by not allowing illegal aliens to enlist in the US military...
Illegal aliens have nothing to do with immigration..
they are not immigrants...
To: FlingWingFlyer
Well, it’s good to know that homosexuals and illegal aliens are willing to fight and die if need be, defending God, family, country, constitution and the rule of law. Patriots all.

Oh, wait. Under Obama, the military no longer recognizes God. Or family. Or Constitution. Or the rule of law. What country?

Back in the 70s I believe it was possible for a non-citizen (NOT an illegal alien) to earn citizenship through military service. I served with a guy from the Phillipines who was in that program.
That seemed a good idea to me.
ILLEGALS ? Hell, no.

Yes, we had some aboard the ships I served on in the late 60’s. They were used mostly as servants for the officers. I thought it was pretty strange at the time.

Hmmm... no, they wouldn’t do that with the homosexuals. Would they?

Here's the part I enjoyed most:
Although he is a co-sponsor of Denham's bill, McKeon said he hadn't read it yet and had endorsed the measure because of his friendship with Denham, a fellow Californian. Denham recently approached him about including the language in NDAA and McKeon instructed him to build support for the measure, he said.
Jeff talked to me about it, and what I told him is, he's a legislator, I says 'you go out and work the process. You build up support. And if you can get enough support that it carries the day. That's how it works.' He periodically tells me, 'well I got this guy, and I got this guy.' I say, that's the way it works, keep it up, McKeon told Breitbart News.
Co-sponsor hasn't read the bill yet? Perhaps Denham doesn't have the support on the committee that he's leading us to believe.

They were called Stewards Mates at the time (SD).
Blacks had originally had the ‘job’ but when integration was finalized in the Navy the Filipinos were ‘recruited’ to supplement the Blacks. In my time (50/60’s) the SD were mostly Filipino with Blacks.
Believe they were ‘disbanded’ when CS (Commissary Men) cooks became known as Mess Specialists and they sort of blended SD and CS.
Believe the Filipinos were granted citizenship after 4 or 5 years but figure when they retired and went back to PI with their retirement pay they were well off financially.

If it’s such a great idea, why do they want to blackmail people into voting for it by stuffing it into the defense authorization bill?
Because anyone who votes against it can be accused at election time of voting against everything good in the bill.

This looks like Denham trying to save his own skin by appearing to support amnesty.

I’m kinda wondering how an illegal alien could pass a security clearance check?

I have never liked the idea of recruiting criminals who are not even Americans to serve in our military.

He can’t. But that won’t stop them from strapping a 45 on his hip and allowing him to stand security watches.
