“Back in the 70s I believe it was possible for a non-citizen (NOT an illegal alien) to earn citizenship through military service.”
My Italian Grandfather earned his citizenship by enlisting in the army in 1916, which I believe was the practice back then. He subsequently saw combat in WWI - An Italian man fighting for France in an American army. Only in America.
DoD Recruitment of Legal Aliens
In the late 60’s and early 70’s “legal aliens” - that is green card holders - were part of the draft.
Part of VOLAR in the mid seventies too. I had several non US citizens assigned to my platoon who earned their citizenship while on active duty.
That’ll be great. Allow a bunch of law breaking anti-American enlistees. Sneak in from Syria. Welcome aboard. Sneak in from Mexico, Welcome aboard.
Any other than a Mexican citizen join the Mexican army? Es Prohibido!

We're running on stupid as a nation. But hey, I bet those nazis who burned tires in Kiev would be real good US soldiers.
What's the matter with the people running this country?
Wont we need them to supply warm bodies for the invasion, occupation and rebuilding of the next poor Muzzie craphole?
American millennials on their own parents Obamacare (under 26) sure wont sign up to do that .
“The reaction of Jeff Denham of California, original sponsor of the amnesty provision, was not, shall we say, collegial:
It is very frustrating to see controversy on an issue from members that have never served our country and dont understand the impact that immigrants have had on our freedoms and securing our national security.”

Im pretty sure leading critic Gohmert and general amnesty opponent Tom Cotton served.
All the phillipinos were stewards back in those days. Basically waiters for officers. The rule was they had to serve 6 years and be discharged honorably. And since the Navy had 4 year hitches they always served at least 8 years.
members that have never served our country and dont understand the impact that immigrants have had on our freedoms and securing our national security.

Well Im not a member of congress but I served in our country’s military..
oh and I am an immigrant..
Now did Jeff Denham mean “immigrant” the way illegal aliens are falsely called “immigrant” or did he mean REAL immigrants like me...
or is he mixing us like apples and oranges..and calling us the same...
As a REAL immigrant the impact I have had in the US as a member of the military was a positive one..
I was taught to love and respect America years before I ever IMMIGRATED here..
my desire to come here was born from those feelings and not from hate and envy..
One of the first things I did on arriving was to join the military...to serve my new country..
years before I actually became a citizen...
why don’t these people ask me or other REAL immigrants how we feel about America ..
and why we came here...
Jeff Denham and his illegal aliens don’t speak for me...
Yea, you’d think that with the impending inclusion of trannies into the military, they would have a large enough pool of people to draw from.
