Palin Endorses Karen Handel in Georgia Senate Race

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has endorsed Karen Handel for U.S. Senate in Georgia. Palin made the announcement on her Facebook page, citing a quotation attributed to Margaret Thatcher: "If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman." Handel, the former secretary of state and an unsuccessful candidate for governor in 2010, is in a five-way GOP primary for the Senate seat currently held by retiring Republican Saxby Chambliss.

Handel has found herself locked into an effective tie with most of the other Republican candidates, although businessman David Perdue has been ahead in two recent polls, while Jack Kingston, a congressman from Savannah, is polling around second place. The other contenders for the nomination are congressmen Paul Broun and Phil Gingrey.

Palin noted the importance of the race for Republicans in her endorsement of Handel. "This Georgia Senate race is very important to the Democrats and has long-term repercussions for 2016 as Democrats test the waters to see if they can win big in a red state with a woman candidate," Palin wrote. "That is why the GOP needs a strong contender like Karen Handel. She is the conservative candidate who can win this race and hold this seat for the GOP."

In an editorial for the latest issue of THE WEEKLY STANDARD, Fred Barnes notes Handel and Kingston are both candidates that would be "tough to beat" for the strong Democratic candidate, Michelle Nunn.

out of curiosity why don’t you like Perdue.... I am not that thrilled by Broun and both Kingston and Handel leave me shaking my head.

I would still take ANY of them over Michelle Nunn

LOL!

I'll wait patiently for you to explain why NOT being tired of "old white men" makes me a RINO. Take your time.

Please God do NOT stick us with Perdue or Kingston. We’ll take Gingrey over those two clowns!

I don’t know a lot about Kingston but that which I do know I don’t like.

I am still trying to pen Perdue down on some issues. He seems very anti Ocare and wants its repeal. Need some more detail for my vote.

Handel was a member or the Log Cabin republicans (fine I don’t care associate with whomever you want) but then DENIED it and LIED about it until caught in the lie. Can’t stand that in a politician. She hits me as a light weight who has managed to be on boards and put in jobs whether she was qualified or not. Pretty face but are their any brains??? Or ethics??

I agree. After Broun, Handel may be the best viable choice.

I’ve got a conservative Georgian friend who had nothing good to say about Perdue. Running on a name? Not great...

IIRC correctly, she was on the board of the SUSAN G KOMEN Foundation when it stopped funding to Planned Parenthood

Handel is on the right side of the abortion isse, BUT that is the least important issue to me in the whole election. Cutting government, cutting taxes, repealing gun control, repealing 0 care are the top ones for me.

I haven't found anything to like about him yet. So he drives an old car - like that's some sort of recommendation about his politics?

I'd take a rattlesnake over Michelle Nunn - the snake would be more trustworthy.

“out of curiosity why don’t you like Perdue”

Just because I’ve heard he’s the most liberal. He’s the one the establishment prefers, etc. I haven’t looked into the GA race until lately, though. Am I wrong?

Funny how folks in Massachusetts have the inside scoop on a race they haven’t studied.

I am not sure which ‘establishment’ GOP you think support him. He is pretty much self funded, has not help state office, and at least according to him is sick and tired of the nonsense that is going on in DC.

The other are in fact GOP folks from Georgia. Have or do hold office and part of the establishment....Not sure whether that is good or bad but it is what is true

Frankly, you don’t count. It’s a waste of time if you don’t have a vote here.

I am a Georgian. I don’t consider Perdue to be running on a name though I guess if you associate Sonny and David that is your own darned fault.

What specifically does your ‘source’ not like about Perdue. His back ground is strong on the business and energy side. He is not an ‘insider’ but any stretch of the imagination.

I personally need more info on his positions on some issues but I have not been disappointed in what he has said so far

As it is for me, too. I have not seen anything from the other candidates (some with LONG histories in our Congress I might add, too) that makes me believe they will raise and keep that budget banner.

All I know is that I have a GOB traitor Congressman and TWO GOB traitor Senators, and a gaggle of current Congressman and GOBs wanting to get that higher power seat. From what I know about Handel, she isn’t that.

“Funny how folks in Massachusetts have the inside scoop on a race they haven’t studied.”

I was going from memory and may been confusing Purdue with the leader of another race. But Purdue is related to former governor Purdue, correct?
