Several Republican senators said Wednesday they were surprised and angered after a news report revealed that their GOP colleague, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, made a recent fundraising appeal for a tea party group that is trying to defeat GOP incumbents it doesn't believe are conservative enough.
The senators said Cruz's efforts appeared to violate his own pledge to no longer target sitting Republican senators in favor of tea party-backed candidates in the hard-fought 2014 campaign in which Republicans believe they have a chance to win back control of the Senate.
In addition, the fundraising appears at odds with Cruz's position as vice chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the organization that works to elect and re-elect Republicans to the Senate.
"I am stunned that Senator Cruz is involved in this fundraising effort for a group that has targeted his colleagues in the Republican caucus," Sen. Susan Collins, a Maine Republican, told CNN.

Ted Cruz angers CNN pansies. Again.
If Cruz ‘pledged’ to not back “tea party-backed candidates” it was a mistake ... the words should have said something like, I’ll not back anyone that conflicts with America’s core principles ... or something like that ... but .. hey ... You GO, Ted !!!
Ted Cruz is doing the right thing, I wish we had a lot more like him
Who cares?! I despise the establishment
Ted Cruz/Sarah Palin 2016
Here's what Senator Ted Cruz' spokeswoman said last October following an all-out fight with gOp leadership in a closed-door lunch meeting. In spite of the way CNN, Politico and the gOpE is trying to spin it ... they're putting words in his mouth:
But a Cruz spokeswoman said the senator would still be involved with the groups effort in promoting conservative causes.
And I would say that it is the NRSC itself that is prompting Senator Cruz' actions since it is apparent that they haven't learned the lessons from 2010 to stay out of primaries.
But, we conservative constituents are childish brats and nitwits who shouldn’t be bothered that McConnell engineered the passing of the latest debt hike with a forgone-conclusion show vote.
Nope, Ted’s a renegade, but Boehner, McConnell, McInsane, Graham, Cornyn et al completely deserve to be idolized and protected from Ted when they cherish their friendship with their pals across the aisle more than our own freedom.
Cruz is right on target. Go, go and go.
We will either LEAD that party - or we will destroy it.
Get Some!
We Support You, Senator Cruz! 100%!
What’s the point of being in a party that disagrees with most of your political points? Because they are “less bad” than the other one? See where that’s gotten us.
Cruz is right.
“When did Ted Cruz make a pledge not to target sitting congress-critters?”
I was just about to ask the same thing.
Translation: "That kind of tactic is reserved for us RINO types!"
Apparently, Susan Collins and her fellow Republican anti-Cruz malcontents believe they were sent to Washington to spend their time attacking Republican Conservatives rather than accomplishing anything for the people they represent.
Republican voters want lower taxes, fewer regulations, more jobs, and the repeal of ObamaCare — none of which can be accomplished by calling Republican Conservatives ‘’Wacko-birds,’’ and other schoolyard epithets.
The more Republican voters realize that their goals of lower taxes, etc., can only be achieved by sending the Susan Collinses home and replacing them with principled Republican Conservatives who will work with the Ted Cruzes on their behalf, the more Mitch McConnell and Company’s polls will continue to decline, the more they will panic, and the more we will hear their pathetic and insane anti-Cruz attacks like today’s, because that’s all they know how to do, attack like playground bullies.
Well said!
______________
To paraphrase President Ronald Reagans comment to a journalists question about why Reagan left the Democrat Party:
The Silent Majority didnt leave the Republican Party to form the vocal Taxed Enough Already Party, the Republican Party left them !’
Notice how they sent out a politically safe girl to try to chastise Ted? Their men have been emasculated.
Did Cruz promise only to leave Graham and McCain alone?

In an olive branch to his colleagues, Cruz privately assured them he wouldnt raise money for a conservative group attacking GOP senators.
He said he would not endorse john corn hole for reelection in Texas. Go Ted!! He also attacked some of corn hole's "I am a conservative" ads here.
