JOHN KERRY SINKS TO CLIMATE MCCARTHYISM
Human Events ^ | February 25, 2014 | James Taylor

This article originally appeared on heartland.org.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry sunk to climate McCarthyism last week, calling scientists at NASA, NOAA, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Columbia, and other prestigious research institutions “shoddy scientists” and members of “the Flat Earth Society” because they don’t agree with Kerry and President Barack Obama on global warming issues.

Fortunately for science, and unfortunately for Kerry, the Scientific Method encourages rather than blackballs critical inquiry and scientific debate. If that were not the case, people would indeed still believe the Earth is flat. Even so, more than 31,000 scientists have signed a summary of the science explaining why humans are not creating a global warming crisis. A survey of more than 1,800 atmospheric scientists in the American Meteorological Society shows less than half believe humans are the primary cause of recent warming. Comprehensive scientific summaries presented by the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change reveal thousands of peer-reviewed studies contradict the alarmist global warming narrative. And scientific organizations such as the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Sciences dispute the notion that humans are causing a global warming crisis, while others such as the American Physical Society point out that scientists are sharply split on the issue.

This leads us to the Biggest Lie of alarmist global warming myths: the assertion that 97 percent of scientists agree humans are causing a global warming crisis. The closest thing to actual evidence supporting such a claim is a couple of “surveys” conducted by global warming alarmists asking a cherry-picked group of their peers whether (1) the Earth has warmed during the past 100 years, since the Little Ice Age ended and (2) whether humans have played a role in the warming. The two questions are meaningless in the global warming debate, as neither of these questions addresses the issues dividing alarmists and skeptics. This is like citing a survey in which 97 percent of doctors agree people should seek professional medical attention for serious ailments, and then making a misleading and unsubstantiated jump in logic to assert that 97 percent of doctors support Obamacare.

But climate McCarthyism isn’t about analyzing scientific evidence and comparing scientific theories. It is about telling scientific falsehoods and then having political kingpins preemptively denounce and insult honorable scientists at the world’s most prestigious research institutions by calling them “shoddy scientists” and members “of the Flat Earth Society” simply because the scientists disagree with the politicians.

Why is McCarthyism used as pejorative, even by some on the Right? Senator Joseph McCarty was proved to be 100% correct in his valiant crusade against the enemy within. In fact, the HUAC was started by a Conservative patriot who just happened to be a Democrat (back when such things still existed), Morris Dees of Texas.

Being branded a McCarthyite should be a badge of honor.

Problem is, McCarthy was right. Will he ever get the credit he deserves?

The problem with McCarthy was this:

(1) His gut feeling - that Communists would stop at nothing to infiltrate the US government, and that given the law of averages they had to have been somewhat successful - was right.

(2) He actually did not have concrete proof of many of his allegations. He was right about some of the people he accused and wrong about others.

Had he been as cautious in his research as he was accurate in his assumptions, he would have been far more effective. His botched invstigation into the Army at Fort Monmouth destroyed his reputation, and he kind of asked for it.

John Kerry — Who cares in two more years he will be tossed onto the pile of retired jackasses responsible for F’ing up our country. In the meantime he will simply be tolerated. No one who matters listens to him anyway.

Who was he wrong about?

He claimed various numbers of infiltrators but revealed 159 names specifically.

Of those named, 9 were identified as being actual Communist agents in the Venona files.

Again he was right about the infiltration, but he was wrong about the numbers, and he named people who were not actually guilty of anything.

One example would be State Department employee Esther Less.

She was neither identified by Robert E. Lee as a possibly compromised employee, nor is there any evidence of her in the Venona files, but McCarthy put her name out there as a Communist agent.

How would you feel if you had never done anything wrong and a Senator put your name on a list and called you a traitor?

IIRC, Ann Coulter said something that about 90 % or more of those accused by McCarthy were traitors, verified by the Venona intercepts and defectors, etc. He was good, but not that good. The rats exploited the errors that he couldn't prove, to great effect when you consider a 90 % batting average!

Actually, his batting average was closer to .100 than .900.

Again, had he been more careful with his research, he would have accomplished much more.

Instead, he made leftists look like victims.

McCarthy was the kind of guy who cut corners.

So you don’t actually know she was not a security risk, just that she was not named in the Venona Papers.

So you don’t actually know she was not a security risk, just that she was not named in the Venona Papers.

Is that a road you really want to go down?

Fact: Joseph McCarthy never produced a scintilla of evidence that Esther Less ever did anything wrong.

Fact: Robert E. Lee, who actually did his homework and inspected the State Department files to identify employees who had even a hint of disloyalty, never identified anything improper for Esther Less.

Fact: The Venona files, which demonstrated the value of Lee's painstaking research and corroborated most of his findings 40 years after the fact, contained zero information about Esther Less.

It looks like McCarthy just picked names at random from State Department employment lists to beef up his numbers.

Do you have a shred of evidence that indicates that Esther Less ever did anything wrong?

How do we know that you aren't a security risk?

Annie Lee Moss was lionized by the lying commie Edward R. Murrow during "See It Now", a "documentary" co-created by by fellow red, Fred "Friendly" (real name Ferdinand Wachenheimer). As it turns out, the saintly Moss was a communist infiltrator.

It's a crime that truly good man such as Senator Joseph McCarthy, a war hero, has such a bad reputation whereas Murrow and his "Boys" such as Dicky Hottelet, Dougie Edwards, Howie Smith and lil' Charlie Collingwood are honored and praised as brave. Murrow, "Friendly" and Russian-descended Billyboy Paley used the powerful medium of the Columbia chain (now CBS) to undermine America. When Morrow's pal, Don Hollenbeck, was exposed as a commie agent, he cowardly committed suicide.

CORRECT YOU ARE RE_N

AS USUAL IF YOU WANT THE TRUTH TOLD WITH STUNNING FACTUAL WIT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GOOGLE THE BRAINY BEAUTY ANN COULTER AND TYPE IN YOUR FAVORITE SEARCH TERM READ ANN’S WORDS:

The myth of “McCarthyism” is the greatest Orwellian fraud of our times. Liberals are fanatical liars, then as now. The portrayal of Sen. Joe McCarthy as a wild-eyed demagogue destroying innocent lives is sheer liberal hobgoblinism. Liberals weren’t hiding under the bed during the McCarthy era. They were systematically undermining the nation’s ability to defend itself, while waging a bellicose campaign of lies to blacken McCarthy’s name. Liberals denounced McCarthy because they were afraid of getting caught, so they fought back like animals to hide their own collaboration with a regime as evil as the Nazis. As Whittaker Chambers said: “Innocence seldom utters outraged shrieks. Guilt does.”

At the time, half the country realized liberals were lying. But after a half century of liberal myth-making, even the disgorging of Soviet and American archives half a century later could not overcome their lies. In 1995, the U.S. government released its cache of Soviet cables that had been decoded during the Cold War in a top-secret undertaking known as the Venona Project. The cables proved the overwhelming truth of McCarthy’s charges. Naturally, therefore, the release of decrypted Soviet cables was barely mentioned by the New York Times. It might have detracted from stories of proud and unbowed victims of “McCarthyism.” They were not so innocent after all, it turns out.

Soviet spies in the government were not a figment of right-wing imaginations. McCarthy was not tilting at windmills. He was tilting at an authentic communist conspiracy that had been laughed off by the Democratic Party. The Democrats had unpardonably connived with the greatest evil of the 20th century. This could not be nullified. But liberals could at least hope to redeem the Democratic Party by dedicating themselves to rewriting history and blackening reputations. This is what liberals had done repeatedly throughout the Cold War. At every strategic moment this century, liberals would wage a campaign of horrendous lies and disinformation simply to dull the discovery the American people had made. They had gotten good at it.

There were, admittedly, a few rare and striking exceptions to the left’s overall obtuseness to communist totalitarianism. John F. Kennedy’s pronouncements on communism could have been spoken by Joe McCarthy. For all his flaws, Truman unquestionably loved his country. He was a completely different breed from today’s Democrats. Through the years, there were various epiphanic moments creating yet more anti-communist Democrats. The Stalin-Hitler pact, Alger Hiss’ prothonotary warbler, information about the purges and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn’s “The Gulag Archipelago” – all these had their effect.

But after World War II, the Democratic Party suffered a form of what France had succumbed to after World War I. The entire party had lost its nerve for sacrifice, heroism and bravery. Beginning in the ‘50s, there was a real battle for the soul of the Democratic Party. By the late ‘60s, the battle was over. The anti-communist Democrats had lost.

GAME OVER IT’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW..
