Why is McCarthyism used as pejorative, even by some on the Right? Senator Joseph McCarty was proved to be 100% correct in his valiant crusade against the enemy within.

IIRC, Ann Coulter said something that about 90 % or more of those accused by McCarthy were traitors, verified by the Venona intercepts and defectors, etc. He was good, but not that good. The rats exploited the errors that he couldn't prove, to great effect when you consider a 90 % batting average!

Actually, his batting average was closer to .100 than .900.

Again, had he been more careful with his research, he would have accomplished much more.

Instead, he made leftists look like victims.

McCarthy was the kind of guy who cut corners.
