My prayers for the souls of Mr. and Mrs. DeNittis. When a couple is married as long as they were, it's common for them to grow together so each becomes almost an organ of the other. Thus, one's death often leads very quickly to the other's death, especially when the wife predeceases her husband.

This is what Kurt Vonnegut called a “Duprass”.
When two are of like mind.

This was rather inspiring:

“the couple’s funeral took place at the same church where they were married 67 years ago”

that level of stability is rare these days

Even death couldn’t part these two for any length of time.

Awesome.

Rare indeed - not only the long marriage, but they both lived well into their nineties. Hopefully, lots of kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids!

I know, deep in my heart, that the effeminate anchor of this mainstream media program will feel some everlasting love of his own next Saturday at the bath-house, between the sweaty hello and the worrying about AIDS. But God bless him, after all.

No prayers needed for them. They are the Lord’s arms together. Guarantee it. Prayers for those they left behind though.

PS If ya doubt me, take it up with me later. Much later.

This was truly a bittersweet story.

I do take some comfort in the fact that this loving couple will "never know the pain of living without each other," as the article noted. And that neither was robbed of a full lifetime (both of them making it to their mid-nineties).

Still, it is very hard not to deeply saddened by this...

I think when you fall in love, you learn a lesson about pain; the pain that some day you might have to be separated from the one you love the most.

I told my husband, I want us to go together, holding hands and praying to God. ( And have the dogs adopted out to go homes right beforehand.)

Its awesome that they had such a long life together. Its what life should be all about.

Prayers for their families, I know they are in God’s hands.

Good for the two of you. You’re assuring the dogs the care they will so desperately need.

What a beautiful story, not only 67 years married, but childhood sweethearts as well.

Whenever I hear stories like this, it always reminds me of the time I was at my friend’s house and we noticed a little old man pushing his little old wife in her wheel chair down their street. Her mom said, “Oh, look at that. Isn’t that nice? When we get that old, your father will probably push my wheelchair right out into traffic.”

That is really awesome! I hope my wife and I go that way….although hours is too much…..same time would be incredible. God bless them.
