Do NOT watch the Rose Bowl parade. Unless you have the stomach for this kind of crap.

I didn’t say to watch the parade. It is a short clip of Scully from yesterday.

I am going to watch it on RFD-TV and hope they don’t air that crap. But if they do, it will be turned off and I will never watch again.
Hopefully they know their viewing audience.

Will watch the clip later since the parade has started. He had a nice lead off.

Was worth watching just the first few minutes just to see him. Not many of the old time broadcasters left.

Don’t care about the Parade. Will watch it because I always watch it. But my next car WILL NOT be a Honda and I let them know it.

And there won’t be any new broadcasters to replace them. The jobs doing sports broadcasting used to go to career broadcasters now go to broken down ex-players. Guys like Vin Scully And Bob Uecker, if they were starting out today, wouldn’t see one minute behind the mike because some old retired left handed pitcher got the gig instead.

Well Uecker was a former player. Even got a ring in 64 with the Cards. But I know what you mean.

Got to admit I think some players would make good broadcasters given a little time but most you can tell wouldn’t connect to the audience no matter how long they were given.

They have said they ARE going to air it.

It IS what this country has become. Sad really.

I think that gay float was yanked. I didn’t see it appear where it was scheduled

I stopped listening to Vin Sculley during the world Series in 77/78 , when Vin Sculley - after the Dodgers loaded the bases and they were down by 5 runs at the time, said:

“The winning run is in the Dugout”.

I turned off the TV and put on the radio. Phil “Scooter” Rizzutto was calling the game on the local radio.

Vin Scully should have told them to shove the parade where the sun don’t shine. To preside over a parade that publicizes gay/pervert marriage is sickening.

Former players have become successful broadcasters for a very
long time. There are people like Pee Wee Reese, Dizzy Dean,
Tony Kubek, Joe Morgan, Joe Garagiola, and Tim McCarver who
became well known broadcasters after careers as players.

I love listening to broadcasters Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow
for the SF Giants, both former players who are well informed
and humorous to boot. Another Giants broadcaster, young
Dave Flemming, is not an ex-jock and is making his mark
in football as well as baseball announcing. He is teamed with
Jon Miller, a baseball Hall of Fame broadcaster who is also
not a former player.

Sure there are bad ex-player broadcasters but there are
good ones, as well.
