MSNBC HOSTS RADICAL IDEA: EVERY NON-INCARCERATED ADULT CITIZEN GETS A MONTHLY CHECK FROM THE GOVERNMENT
On Tuesdays edition of MSNBCs The Cycle, co-host Krystal Ball suggested that the United States implement a minimum guaranteed income for every non-incarcerated adult citizen. The enormous entitlement program would eliminate poverty completely, Ball claimed.
Referencing protests occurring across the globe, the MSNBC host made her pitch for a monthly minimum income or a mincome. The free government money would not only solve poverty, but it would not create deincentives to work, she claimed.
The basic concept is simple, she said. Every non-incarcerated adult citizen gets a monthly check from the government. Other safety net programs are jettisoned to pay for the mincome, and poverty is eliminated. Now I know what youre thinking: This is some crazy left-wing utopian idea that only Marxists like Krystal Ball and Pope Francis could possibly support, Ball continued. She then argued that the idea has found support on the right, citing Reasons Matthew Freeney who suggested giving the poor cash.
Ball went on to cite a study about a Canadian town in the 1970s that reportedly implemented a minimum income and not only was poverty eliminated, but the disincentives to work has a minimal effect on productivity.
We tend to think of poverty, homelessness, despair as inevitable but mincome makes you realize in a country as rich as ours we allow those outcomes as a choice. We could decide to eliminate poverty and it wouldnt even take a Christmas miracle, Ball said.

The sooner we get to SHTF, the quicker we can get our Republic back.
how about zero taxpayer funded governent handouts. If you don’t work, you starve. If you starve to death, the poverty problem ends.
Welfare for drug dealers.... scammers of every sort....

I posted before I read yours. “Good” ideas never die.
Actually, it makes sense once we realize their plan to lock up all the Bible believers and politically conservatives in labor/re-education camps - the only ones left outside bars will be their kind . . .
McGovern proposed that in 1972....
I want a free National Ski Pass.
The problem with this idea is that there are people
in the White House that think this way too.
Would THIS income be TAXED?....
I think that this Krystal Ball is cracked a bit. Might do to rename her “8 Ball”.
I wonder if she is related to Rep. John Boehner, Mr. “No Ball”. Just asking.
See, things aren’t so hard to fix when you look at them the right way. UFB!!!
I want on of those Trillion $ coins.
I'm actually surprised he purposes to cut other safety net programs...
How will they get the libtards to vote?
There are no words.
I only remembered it because I just bought a Mega-pack of Mack Reynolds stories. It was one of the ideas he loved and hated at the same time.
It’s like so many of the other drug fueled ideas for utopia that these people never outgrew. As one once famously said: “It’s really such a pity that reality keeps interfering with my dreams of utopia.”
Laz I agree the faster this things folds the better it will be.
