MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow to write Washington Post column
WaPo ^ | 12/11/13 | ERIK WEMPLE

The journalistic bond between The Post and MSNBC just grew a bit stronger, as the paper’s opinion section announced that MSNBC host Rachel Maddow will be writing a monthly column. “We expect that she will bring to Post readers the strong arguments, sharp wit and thoughtful analysis of political and social issues that have made her show an Emmy Award winner,” noted a memo on the move.

In a brief chat, Post Editorial Page Editor Fred Hiatt (the Erik Wemple Blog’s boss) said he was “really excited” about adding Maddow to his roster of columnists. “She’s written for us before and what she has done is great,” said Hiatt. In 2012, Maddow wrote opinion pieces for The Post on the protracted war in Afghanistan and on the “war on birth control.”

They’re just looking for the Democrat Man’s point of view. So few of WaPo’s supposedly male journalists actually have a pair, they decided to get a real man with a pair.

Rachel Maddow's strong on 'attitude' and being fashionable.

But if you write down what she's saying - minus the glitz and eye rolls - it's very ordinary. I won't try to second guess the Washington Post - after all they're an amazingly successful newspaper.../s But I hope they're read her clips.

Perhaps she’s thinking of having children and is tiring of the stress of broadcast journalism. Or the WaPo is hopelessly stupid. Why would any decent person want to subscribe or advertise in it. Just another crappy Democratic broadsheet.

I was recently in Washington DC and passed the WaPo headquarters daily. They have a news ticker that runs across their building. Every day, or nearly every day, the public news ticker carried some story about homosexuals. I thought it was more than odd that their was this prurient interest in homosexual matters, then I realized that this is the foundation upon which the WaPo’s "news" perspective rests.

Try to imagine Walter Cronkite doing the news with the same smirks, eye rolls, and condescending attitude shown by that guy Maddow on his show
