Pope Francis, The Choice (Time person of the year!)
Time ^ | Nancy Gibbs

Posted on 12/11/2013 6:31:03 AM PST by Morgana

Once there was a boy so meek and modest, he was awarded a Most Humble badge. The next day, it was taken away because he wore it. Here endeth the lesson.

How do you practice humility from the most exalted throne on earth? Rarely has a new player on the world stage captured so much attention so quickly—young and old, faithful and cynical—as has Pope Francis. In his nine months in office, he has placed himself at the very center of the central conversations of our time: about wealth and poverty, fairness and justice, transparency, modernity, globalization, the role of women, the nature of marriage, the temptations of power.

Central conversations of our time:

- Failure of native species of Western nations to propagate in binary-couple households.
- Failure of governmets to reign in spending, offloading it on subsequent generations (who have been aborted out of existence).
- The offshoring of degreed professions including IT, technology R&D/QA, graphic design, tax preperation, and legal work.

This cannot continue. A collapse is coming.

That doesn’t even include the instability of Islamic imperialism or the efforts to redistribute wealth from First World nations to Third World nations under the Marxist fraud that is “man-made global warming”.

Obamacare is a “solution” to a man-made problem that is worse than what it sought to replace.

born IN the United States are not a requirement.

To be born a citizen, to not require a naturalization application to become a citizen, for the conditions of your birth alone make you a citizen, that is a natural born citizen.

Never said Bush was a conservative. He was a RINO of the first degree, but he WAS DESPISED by the liberal media. That is fact.

You are totally ignorant of the history of the award. Like I said every president but three in the last 85 years. A list of some republicans and conservatives who have been awarded. Winston Churchill - Twice George Marshall - Twice Dwight Eisenhower - Twice The Fighting America Man (Korea War) John Foster Dulles Pope John 23rd William Westmoreland Richard Nixon - Twice Henry Kissinger Ronald Reagan - Twice Lech Wałęsa George HW Bush George W. Bush Newt Gingrich Pope John Paul II Ken Starr Rudolph Guiliani Vladmir Putin Pope Francis

Never attacked Palin, I like her. But she was baptised Catholic AND that’s one of the main reasons she does not criticise Catholics. That is where her pro-life and pro-family values were started - the Catholic Church.

He’s talking under duress... At least that’s more creative than the endless stream of “lost in translation/misquoted by the press” excuses we’ve been seeing for Pope Trotsky. It has a certain “24” quality to it.

Actually you attacked her and her faith, the Catholic church didn’t create Palin, she left it for her faith, as so many white and Hispanic Americans have.

“I was baptized Catholic as a newborn and then my family started going to non-denominational churches throughout our life,”

Frankly I thought they were going to go with Ed Snowden.

Give it another year. Snowden has a LOT of ammunition.

Get your flame suit on, joseph20. I know from experience not to question Cruz’s qualifications for POTUS, just.... because.

The ignorance in this discussion does not come from me sir. If you actually think Time has given this thing in a dispassionate way against their own ideology, you are living where the sun don't shine.

That you don't comprehend why this award wasn't given instead to the great liar in chief, who IS the biggest newsmaker, is to your intellectual discredit.

Sarah Palin didn’t leave Catholicism, her parents did and of course they took their kids with them. I think Palin was 6 or 7 years old when the old man quit going to Mass and found a Pentacostal or Assemblies of God church to start attending. Sarah Palin was baptised in Christ the King Catholic Church in Pasco, Washington and still has an aunt that lives there, who is still a Catholic. Palin comes and visits every so often and it’s always a big deal in the little town of Pasco.

That’s an episode of “The Journey Home” I’d love to see someday. Is that so wrong?

Palin left the Catholic denomination and has never returned.

Governor Palin is a non-denominational Christian, and a deliberate, non-Catholic.

http://dailycaller.com/2011/03/09/gop-2012-hopefuls-on-what-they-are-giving-up-for-lent/#

“I do observe Lent, and my family and I have traditionally sacrificed something during these weeks leading up to Easter Sunday. When I was growing up, my Irish Catholic grandfather would remind me that sacrifices offered up during Lent are to be like tithing — if you advertise your ‘sacrifice’ and tithe then you negate any spiritual gains. (Or maybe he’d say that because he didn’t want us to know what he gave up!)”

Palin is a protestant, but she told TheDC that her “Catholic baptism and Catechism classes have stuck with me internally.”

*****************

A child goes to Catechism classes in elementary school. Nice to see that some of her Catholic faith stuck with her. Maybe one day she’ll see the light and come back to the fullness of the faith. It is not her fault that her parents left the faith.

Amazing how an “honor” bestowed by a handful of people who nobody have heard of from a magazine nobody reads still makes news in our insane world.

You just can’t change reality, and I don’t know why you would so devote yourself to doing so.

Palin left the Catholic denomination and has never returned.

Governor Palin is a non-denominational Christian, and a deliberate, non-Catholic.

This is great news. I am serious. I am glad that they did not pick Obama. I am sure that he will be picked one of these years to make his a three-time “winner” and the most in the history of the magazine. Just glad it isn’t this year. Pope Francis certainly has changed the World and pissed off everyone in the process.
