The top 40 percent of households by before-tax income actually paid 106.2 percent of the nations net income taxes in 2010, according to a new study by the Congressional Budget Office.
At the same time, households in the bottom 40 percent took in an average of $18,950 in what the CBO called government transfers in 2010.

Put me up there on the top 40. Three of my little tax credits turned 17 last year so that was a $6K tax payment bath. This year with refinancing on the home, I will not even be able to itemize.... I feel like my parents!!!!!!!
Wow the top 1% didn’t get the word??
Fair Tax.
Make everyone pay their fair share. Of course, it would take a constitutional amendment to get rid of the Commie Tax first, so Congress wouldn’t impose both on us.
But the progressive Commie Tax (part of Marx’s Commie Manifesto) is killing us by moving more and more sheeple off the tax rolls, creating an ever larger voting constituency for the Rats. The Commie Tax has to be terminated with extreme prejudice.
bump
None of the Gov’t’s damn biz what anyone makes, but for the 16th Amendment. Repeal it. Put Gov’t back in the Framer’s Constitutional box.
To those who are skeptical, the USA is already halfway communist. Massive transfers of money from those who work to those who vote democrat are built into the tax system.
Taxes are trickle-down.
The rich are generally the producers of products and services and when they get taxed they trickle most of the tax down to the middle class as higher prices.
Costlier food, transportation, fuel, electricity, clothing... in short, most everything.
The middle class is where the bulk of the $$ is, you can’t get it from anywhere else. So, you “tax” the rich and evil corporations and they “tax” everyone by raising prices.
Corporate taxes are an illusion...although they can hinder the bottom line if foreign goods from low-tax nations have no tariff.
We would be better off with no corporate tax, and no taxes for individuals once they pass a certain number of full-time people they employ. The state could no longer hide taxes on the middle class as taxes on the wealthy.
It makes sense if you read it, honest.
Thanks SoFloFreeper.
With this and other recent developments, Lenin is smiling up from h*ll.
