Surveyors in the US use both GPS and GLONASS systems, often integrated together.
Military accuracy for both systems is already tighter than one centimeter, so how accurate do you think we need to get?

I am all for razing down the DOS and turning the land into something useful -- like growing corn, or slopping hogs...
Actually, I didn't realize I was commenting on a thread from yesterday -- so sorry about the late remarks.

CO, I agree with your assessment of our DOS, but I just don’t see those stations in any way improving on GLONASS accuracy; its already able to thread needles, so to speak.
Perhaps they have another purpose, in the event that GLONASS is KO’d?

Perhaps they have another purpose, in the event that GLONASS is KOd? That's my guess.

More to the point, if we ever actually believed those sites posed a menace we could wipe them out quick.
What might be harder to catch would be clandestine radio beacons that nobody could tell from a ham radio installation.
Also, GPS might not even be the best way for guiding an ICBM or smartbomb. I don’t want to mention the other ways (who needs to tell their potential enemy how to arm) but anyone with a modicum of imagination could know.

IMHO, Garmin looks sexier than milspec Glonass/GPS device.
