First, you are doing something that isn’t even commanded in scripture. It might have been theoretically possible to write the covenant name of God on a permanent medium and treat that disrespectfully. But these are rabbinical speculations by men who are big headed about their importance (hence the term rabbi which wasn’t even used by Solomon). You simply flatter yourself here when dealing with a digital or other inherently impermanent medium.

Second, ALL principles should be taken into account. Even your big headed rabbis knew that much. Some can yield for others when there is a conflict of importance. Teaching a people wisdom is important.

Third, you have no basis for your third assumption. You ignore the divine power and desire to act in favor of your shallow philosophizing. Is it not the Lord who teaches wisdom?

Exactly! We'll never have this opportunity to collapse socialism, on this scale again.

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." ~ Napoleon Bonaparte

Let the whole mess implode.

You are correct that Judaism does not prohibit writing the Name of G-d per se. It prohibits only erasing or defacing a Name of G-d. However, observant Jews avoid writing any Name of God casually because of the risk that the written Name might later be defaced, obliterated or destroyed accidentally or by one who does not know better.

The commandment not to erase or deface the name of G-d comes from Deut. 12:3. In that passage, the people are commanded that when they take over the promised land, they should destroy all things related to the idolatrous religions of that region, and should utterly destroy the names of the local deities. Immediately afterwards, we are commanded not to do the same with HaShem.

ALL principles should be taken into account. Even your big headed rabbis knew that much.

Big Headed Rabbi's?! I am going to assume you mistyped that one FRiend.

It is not G-d's commandment that people forced into a Eugenic One-Size Fits all Social Laboratory!

I refuse to let this Eugenic inspired deathcare take root in this country AGAIN like it did 100 years ago.

The Ultimate Goal is a Government that Controls every aspect of your life starting with your health.

That is a little different than being endowed with certain unalienable rights.

But dude, I can appreciate differences in an Old Testament approach versus a gospel approach.

Worship options were severely limited under the Old Testament. Carrying that spirit of severe limitation forward, results in treating the name of God like it was an atom bomb that would blow up and destroy you if you mishandled it, rather than the gospel spirit where it becomes a powerhouse of spiritual muscle that is acting in your favor (even if sometimes it has to chastise you).

I’m a gospel guy.

The gospel is a second covenant, sealed differently, with rules that pertain to it.

The gospel isn’t just about us living in heaven. It’s about inviting heaven to come and live in us.

It was not God’s will that men should be enslaved as chattels either, but the US Civil War entailed a lot more than just that.

Yes I mean what I said. Big headed rabbis, the very name means “great one.” Solomon would have deserved such a name if attainments merited such — yet never used it. He was the humble Qoheleth. The term Rabbi evolved in the exile. Yes there are Jewish myths that posit that rabbis are as old as Noah. They are nonsense.

Limited? Have the Utmost respect for HaShem is limited? I do not think so. It is the highest form of respect.

We are meant to Worship G-d, not go to a concert on Sunday or Friday.

As for an Atom Bomb, you do remember the Ark of the Covenant right?

I refuse to see my country go the way of 1860 AGAIN, because one man feels he has say over another man and I will not tolerate the Get-Along-Gang trying to moderate slavery to the government like the Whigs did!

I am outside the GOP-Democrat way at looking things now.

By the way where are you geographically? You ought to be observing the sabbath if you are Jewish.

Also do not stop with Deuteronomy 12:4. Continue on to 12:5 and following. Deuteronomy 12:4 is an example of litotes. Like saying “not a bad ballplayer” to mean a great ballplayer. Not just “don’t wipe out the name of the Lord” but that the name of the Lord is to be exalted in all practice! Which of course obviates the wiping out of the Lord’s name. You’ve pretty well forgotten that part, and majored in the minors.

Your respect seems to fall short of seeing patterns of His action of how He teaches wisdom to a people. You are being a monomaniac and therefore sweeping right on to the things you say you despise.

I sure do remember that Ark. Very dangerous! Multiple precautions! Though it took more than just putting it on a cart (a violation of the protocol of the carrying poles) to get its carrier killed. Only when it was jostled that was the last divine straw.

And the curtain hiding it in the second temple tore from top to bottom at the consummation of the sacrifice of the new covenant. The danger has been defanged.

Where do you think I was before I came home?

It is not G-d's will that sick be denied care because of Government Cost that was imposed on them by Deathcare just to teach wisdom.

That is like bringing up a Luekema Patience to place Baseball to teach how NOT be an umpire.

You are getting so discombobulated in your furor that you can’t even type straight now. What’s the matter? Prick a conscience?

Also — you are already bowing down to a communist ideal by saying that “healthcare plans” as we know them now and as Obamacare tries to co-opt are the only means of GETTING that care to the women, or to whoever. Use some imagination, dude. The communists have enclosed your mind in a box. Don’t complain that I say the communists’ box is the wrong shape for your mind.

Oh... I get it. You were at the synagogue.

Duh. Though technically you probably aren’t wrong to use electricity at home. That is an orthodox rabbinical rule. The actual command was not to kindle fires in your dwellings. I sometimes wonder if the intent was that kindling fires OUTDOORS was okay! I.e. you were encouraged to barbecue on the Sabbath, eat al fresco, under God’s sky, to celebrate Him all the better.

Why are you, a Jew, calling that anti-Christian wet blanket ZC here to help you anyhow?

Which incidentally also ties into the sacramental and sacrificial aspect of eating.

Many possible food sources were prohibited in Leviticus (and the prohibitions reprised in Deuteronomy) because all eating was intended to represent a sacrifice to the Lord, and the forbidden sources were notorious in the area as being used for sacrifices to pagan gods. Sacrificing one of these animals to the Lord could have confused these all too easily fallible people. So the Lord said just don’t do it. The penalty for doing it was minor (washing and leaving the camp and being ceremonially unclean until evening) as would befit an essentially ceremonial misdeed.

That’s why Jesus could and did declare all foods clean. The old prohibitions would pass away, their need gone, as the victory of righteousness over evil was cemented at the cross.

That is what I was thinking. Why don’t they just let the nation understand the full devastation of this and play it up to an 11 every chance they get and revel in the public disdain and hatred of it? They once again strike out on the easiest pitches the opposition throws.

DNR on Obamacare!

The Government, even before Deathcare, had it's nose in the health system too much already.

Remember when Doctors made house calls? That was because you didn't have an Insurance Company standing between you and your doctor. You just paid him the money and that was that. Much like how when the government subsides ANYTHING the price goes through the roof because the company know that people will pay it because they are getting "free" money from the government.

That is something both the GOP and Dems need to stop, but they won't because then why would we re-elect them to fix a problem that has been fixed?

“Why are these idiot “Republicans” trying to save this train wreck?”

I couldn't believe that it was for one year only. All I can say is that I'm glad Obama won't go along with it. The Republican leaders must be in cahoots with Obama.

It should have been said they can keep their health care, PERIOD! Then see if the Dems would vote for it. All this does is provide cover for some of the unsafe seats for Dems and it doesn't solve any of the problems in ObamaCare, just delays full implementation.

Another kick-the-can-down-the-road bill.

We’ll see how this plays out. I tend to think it is a smart gamble by the GOP, simply because so many of the administration’s flacks and other leftist talking heads were screaming about the Upton bill before it even came to the floor. The Senate can’t embrace it, as it effectively contributes to the ACA’s death spiral, and Republicans can honestly say they put forward a bill designed to let you keep your old insurance on a permanent basis.

The risk, of course, is that Reid and the administration will find a way to spin this back on the GOP and put them on the defensive. Still, they’re already trying to do that with the nonsense Landrieu bill, so putting out their own bill probably won’t change the dynamics much there.

Just MHO, anyway.
