I’m sure part of the reason that .380 pocket pistols have gotten so popular is because of more females getting firearms to protect themselves.
They are probably watching shows like CSI and see the women handle guns well....good for them...

I have a couple because they're so easy to conceal. My wife has a Taurus Slim 9 mm because it is small enough for her purse and large enough to be kinder on her smaller (and older) hands - with hollow points, it's a decent compromise for size and stopping power. MS now has Constitutional open carry, but I haven't indulged - already too many places putting up those "No Guns Allowed - We Don't Want Your Business" signs. Besides, I want to decide whether or not to reveal I'm armed instead of flashing it to the world.
I just got a Ruger LCR .357 snubbie for my carry piece. Very compact, liglht and straight shooting. Also, shooting .38 specials out of it is so friendly that any woman would feel comfortable shooting it that way. A really nice gun.
My wife carries a Taurus 5 shot hammerless .38 revolver. No need to pull back a slide. No concern about a limp wrist jam. Just pull the trigger. Great little concealable gun.
How many unarmed women have been murdered in the last fifty years? The numbers have to be in tens of thousands. How many could have survived if they’d been armed? I’d have to say a very large percentage. In virtually every kind of a violent situation where a woman is assaulted by a man, the woman is usually at a distinct physical disadvantage. A good firearm is a great equalizer.
Is that one that has a 7-round cylinder? I have a Ruger GP100 stainless 6-shot with a 6" barrel that I keep loaded with .38 special hollow points for around the home protection just to keep "after it passes through" damage lower if I ever have to use it in-home. It is really accurate and even though I'm not as steady as I was a few decades ago, I am confident I could hit a 5-gallon bucket at 100 yds with the .357 soft points. I have some speed loaders with combinations of .38 special/.357 magnums for quick selection.
I’m going to guess 357’s out of the LCR are real lively. I once had a titanium 357 snubbie. I got rid of it because it was too ammo sensitive, but I didn’t miss the pain.
How many .38sp have you shot out of it? I have a S&W 360PD and even though it’s made for .357mags 38sp is a hand smacker.

FWIW, I lost all my handguns in a horrible Betty Crocker Easy Bake Oven accident.
Lots of good options out there. We go with one in the tube so all my wife needs to do is thumb off the safety. Neither of my b.380s has a safety but the trigger set up, long pull which puts additional spring pressure on the firing pin before finally camming the path free to fire, make an involuntary shot unlikely as long as you are aware of it being ready to go. I'm not thrilled with the newer/safer trigger pull set ups because it takes a bit to get used to such a long mushy pull and can have detrimental effects on accuracy - similar problems with double action revolvers - the pull has to turn the cylinder which makes it harder to stay on target - my .357 is a lot more accurate if I thumb the hammer back. Practice practice practice. May neither you or your wife have to shoot someone, but may you be ready if it becomes necessary...
Good suggestions - I have a very nice 1911, manufactured in the Springfield Armory in 1914 and still a sweet and reliable shooter. I go smaller for concealed carry, but have access to some nice SHTF options.
True - what they don't know won't hurt them and may save their lives if a "law breaker" happens to be armed contrary to their wishes...

Agreed. The missus picked up a S & W Bodyguard .380 some time ago. The only problem with it is how hard the safety is to disengage. By comparison, my Ruger LC9 disengages with an easy flick of the thumb.
The S & W is even hard for me sometimes. I'll be looking for a way to ease up that safety some.
