Reince Priebus: RNC 'proud' of Virginia gubernatorial effort
Washington Examiner ^ | November 10, 2013 | Zack Colman

Posted on 11/11/2013 1:18:31 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus on Sunday defended the party's strategy in the Virginia gubernatorial race against attacks from conservative groups that it didn't do enough to help GOP candidate Ken Cuccinelli.

Tea Party groups said the GOP establishment kept its wallet closed to Cuccinelli, the conservative attorney general who lost to Democrat Terry McAuliffe on Tuesday. Democratic party organizations, those groups said, spent more heavily on McAuliffe than the GOP did on Cuccinelli.

But Priebus said the RNC invested heavily in Cuccinelli's "ground game," commenting that he was "proud" of the effort.

"The RNC outside the presidential election is never in the business of buying millions and millions of dollars of ads," Priebus said on CNN's "State of the Union."

Was in SW Virginia for the month of October. Republicans ran few ads for Cuccinelli and most of those ran did not target criticism from the opposition. This “betrayal”, as well as the Rinos and Rove, are why I no longer support Republicans as a party.

Priebus comes out of Wisconsin and worked w/ Scott Walker to help him get elected. I’m not sure about the connection w/ Ryan.

I was never clear why they kept RP...he was in charge during the losing 2012 elections...why would you stick w/ such a loser?

Aside from the fact that he doesn’t appear to actually stand for a the same things I do...just in general...why would you continue to pay someone to be in charge when they were so ineffective in the last ‘big’ campaign?

And re: Virginia...ground game? Seriously that’s the best you can come up with? Why wasn’t the 2012 ground game (if you had one) still in place for such an important election?

Just where/how do they spend all the money?

Reince is flat out lying here. When Michael Steele was chairman (a guy who actually won elections, by the way), they spent $9million to win the Virginia Governor’s race.

The VA Gov’s race, for many months, was an uncompetitive race. McDonnell won in a landslide. Yet despite this, the RNC invested 3 times more than they did in the Virginia race.

They can’t spin this one. They threw the election.

Dear RNC,

You will not get ANY support from me as long as you keep setting up candidates like McCain, Dole, and Romney.

Read it and weep you bunch of phonies.
