Why can't we admit we're scared of Islamism?
The (London) Spectator (hat tip-NRO) ^ | 11-9-13 | Nick Cohen

The annual [Passion for Freedom] exhibition is as close as London gets to underground art. That claim may surprise you. If you listen to artists, writers, academics and journalists, you would think that thousands of them operate in a radical underground. They say the right things. They ‘speak truth to power’, ‘transgress boundaries’, and all the rest of it. But you will have noticed that they are careful only to challenge religions that won’t hurt them (Christianity) and governments that won’t arrest them (democracies). The London-based Polish intellectuals who organise this artistic protest against abuses of human rights are braver. Passion for Freedom is not devoted to anti-Islamist art. But its curators are not frightened to show it either.

Interesting Comments page.

Read the whole first batch. Considerable disagreement between moderate and extreme anti-Muslims. But not one “you horrible racists” comment.

Surprising.

Our government seems to accept Islam. If this empowers Islamists - if Islamists believe that I will accept, bow to, or otherwise cater to their BS because the POS-in-chief does...let them do so at their own risk.

I have a Line and unlike the POS-in-chief, will make no excuse when it has been crossed.

It was the brave people of Poland who cracked the USSR - started the shattering. They know what it's like to live under the boot...

If we generalize about Muslims then we’re unnecessarily making enemies of millions of very decent people who have historically been our good friends. Neutralize the moderate clerics and radical Islam would simply fade away (or, better yet, use intel resource to get them to destroy each other).

I’m not afraid of Islam. I’m afraid of being prevented from supporting and protecting our nation from it.

Generally speaking and in many ways, the government seems determined to prevent our exercising our right to self defense.

Logically speaking, then, who is the real enemy?

Just saying.

There’s a difference between “being scared of”, and “being contemptuous of”.

It is a contest between civilization and barbarity. With the exception of some foolish leftists, does anyone in their right mind want what the barbarians are selling? They might as well be offering the lifestyle of feral pack dogs.

They choose to lord it over their own people with the continuing threat of violence and depravity. If given a choice, many under their sway would gladly leave.

And the great secret is that barbarity cannot coexist with civilization, because even the ignorant and unschooled can tell that civilization offers a far better life.

So the only option to assure the survival of barbarity is to utterly destroy civilization, to wipe out every bit of it. Eventually the civilized resist this, and can do so, so effectively that the barbarians are crushed.

I’m not the least bit afraid of islamism or islamonazis. The feeling I have is deep hatred mixed with eagerness to see them through a riflescope.

ALL moozlums want to kill you and your children because you are not a moozlum. Those who are not actively doing so are supporters of those who do. If nothing else, they look the other way. Do not kid yourself that there are “moderates”. The moderates will use a sharp knife to separate your head from your body, rather than a dull one.

Yes, thats correct. And I resent the fact that I would have to think twice before attempting to defend myself from these fanatics, or at least am deprived of the means of self defense by my own government.

The Left isn't afraid of Islam. They see it as tool to dismantled Western Civ, and to subjugate the West.
Then its off to the camps with ‘em.

The term Radical Islam is a misnomer. Traditional Islam is radical by nature, and traditional Islam will not fade away. Terror is at the core if the faith. Those that ignore the terror tenets are actually the radicals, and I don’t see them marching anywhere in the world for their brothers, sisters, fathers or mothers to stop the madness.

As for “making enemies”, we didn’t make an enemy - they did. And like a good Christian I’m willing to let them leave with their heads (which is more than they would do for me). I am not, however, willing to let them rule, which is what they intend to do.

The Enemy Within is more of a danger and threat to Americans then any external force be it Russia, China, Mexico or Islam etc etc.

Obama, Kerry, Clinton, Rove et al have essentially made the USA like a computer with no anti-virus protection.

The “virus” allowed Benghazi, Obamacare, Iran/Nuclear, assassinated Navy Seal Team 6 members etc etc and being as we are focusing on Islam, also allows more and more terrorist cells to operate unchallenged in most of the Mosques in the USA.

Mosques=Terrorist Cells PERIOD!

No the danger isn’t from the sniveling coward woman/freedom hating Islamists but from Obama and Co. Which BTW includes most of the GOP.

Is that a sarcastic right or a right right? Because they’ve failed to convince me that it’s just a few extremists. There is too much organized power in their hands to make them that.

Neither Islam nor Muslim is a race.

By the way, I’ve been using the term “Islamist” to refer to advocates of Sharia Law, and therefore believe in forcing their religion upon others by the edge of a sword. I don’t know if it’s correct or not, but I picked it up by someone (famous) who said “I don’t hate Muslims, but I do hate Islamists”.

I’m not afraid of mooslums. I haven’t forgiven them for 9/11 and I despise them.

Ditto to you both. I've fought them. They're cowards, easily crushed. You just have to be willing to crush them.

I hear what you are saying.

But in the Islamic world, there is no term for ‘Islamist.’ They don’t recognize it, so we shouldn’t either, no matter how famous we are.
