New Russian Law: Relatives of Terrorists Must Pay the Bill for Damages

In September 2004 Muslim terrorists stormed the grade school in Beslan, North Ossetia taking over 1,000 children and their parents hostage. Over 380 people, mostly children, died in the Islamist attack.

The Russian parliament passed a law this month requiring family members to pay for the damages caused by Islamic terrorist attacks.

Well that IS what I was getting at: the terrorists ARE supported in the terrorist acts by their families and it is JUST that their families pay,but it is not LEGAL in the U.S.

Other nations have different rules.

Sure, I understand. And in the USA, I think a broad net of a conspiracy charge needs to be liberally used with these guys.

But Bills of Attainder/Corruption of Blood protections were something the USA founders fought for, and should not be lightly tossed aside, no matter how crappy the terrorists are.

We’ve unnecessarily given up lots of freedoms on this “War on Terror” already. No need to add more to the fire.

I am perfectly fine with letting the Russians conduct an experiment along these lines.

I believe the Israelis already had(have?) a policy of destroying the home a terrorist came from. I certainly can understand.

Oh yeah, the family hasn’t 100% control over any member,but when the family actively supports and encourages murderous acts it only seems just they bear some of the pain.All our murderous punks shot or arrested after some killing were “turning their life around” and are actively supported by their friends and relatives.

By the way, the socialists will not even hesitate to punish the entire family ,including the dog, for your resistance to the State.

They are getting paid money by Islamists for their children to commit murder, so take that money.

Putin is wanting to put the onus directly on the terrorists for their relatives future bad situations. Might work, should make most think twice now that not just their sorry ass will be paying and paying and paying.

There is probably some Ruski law about Siberia Salt Mines for those that fail to pay debt owed the gubmit.

I personally don’t care how tough the Russians are on terrorists.

You may have a point, and I’m glad the Ruskies are doing it, not us. Nonetheless, as I beleive Jewbacca pointed out, this is not legal in America and if our policitally correct society decides to overlook this law along with the others we are all screwed.

Every “civilized” nation is playing a defensive war witht he terrorists. Russians going after relatives is a pussyfootin’ way to deal with a real serious problem. Sending our sons and daughters to places like Iraq and Afganistan is not the answer either.

We are dealing with religious fanatics that think they will go to heaven and get some virgins to play with as their reward.

The folks running WWII knew the Japanese were of a similar mindset, that they’d fight to the last man on the last inch costing millions of lives. They knew the answer. The answer was harsh and very decisive and did the trick. I have a feeling western civilization, including the Ruskies, will allow these defensive tactics to paint us into a corner where the only alternative will be harsh and decisive.

No.Just warning you that YOUR family is not safe from the enemies of freedom.

But the fact remains that families or societies who support and encourage attacks on you and your freedom are no less dangerous than the one actually attacking you. A family that teaches its young to murder innocents is as guilty as the murderer.

The Allies in WWII bombed the factories that made weapons,ammunitions,fuel, and transport for the Nazis and Japanese.

The atom bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki made it plain to the Japanese emperor and the saner members of that society that Americans WEREN’T going to be sacrificed in huge numbers in “honorable” one-to-one combat,but that we could and would destroy the Japanese completely if they did not cease hostilities and surrender.

Would it have been more moral to have carried out a conventional invasion with the deaths of a million or two American soldiers and several times that number of Japanese deaths ?

Right now we have an insane situation where American aid monies in the billions of $$ go to “Palestinian” leaders while the jihadists train right there.And our “leaders” bring millions of people of the culture who hate freedom but want the wealth of America and the West to live amongst us ,often on welfare,the dole, or whatever it may be called in each country.

The Russian ploy may deter some muslim terrorists, but not the hardest of them.

Sometimes the harsh and decisive is the only thing that works. Why would that be abhorrent? They WILL kill everyone of us if given the chance.

As to “innocent” muslims, just how many have stood up and told the radicals NO? Obviously they go along to some degree.

Jefferson and Pershing did a good job of quieting the muslim world down for a hundred years each. Time for some harsh and decisive to give the world another 100 year rest.
