Dionne: The U.S. shifts left (Hurl-tastic)
The Washington Post ^ | November 6, 2013 | E.J. Dionne Jr.

Posted on 11/06/2013 9:52:01 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The center of gravity in American politics moved left in Tuesday’s off-year elections.

Republicans took a big step back from the tea party. An ebullient progressive was elected mayor of New York City. And a Democrat was elected governor of Virginia after campaigning unapologetically as a supporter of gun control and a liberal on social issues.

The one bright spot for Republicans, Chris Christie’s landslide reelection in New Jersey, was won precisely because Christie ran briskly away from the party’s right wing and developed a civil relationship with President Obama. His victory speech spoke of the need for politicians to go to places where they might be “uncomfortable” — exactly where the tea party does not want to go.

And in the one direct intraparty fight over the GOP’s future, a tea party candidate lost a primary in Alabama to a more traditional conservative. A telling distinction between the victor, Bradley Byrne, and the defeated Dean Young: Byrne said that Obama was born in the United States; Young suggested the president was born in Kenya.

Young’s persistent “birtherism” is a reminder of how far right the American political discussion veered after the elections of 2009 and the midterms of 2010. The pendulum is swinging back....

We’ve seen our last ‘honest’ elections back in 2008. I saw Cook County played out in spades yesterday.

What we saw yesterday - is just a foretaste of the ‘charade’ that will be played to create the illusion of choice that the MarxoFascist masters in the Ruling Class will attempt to create for us ‘plebes’. Conservatives will never again ‘win’ an important national-impacted election.

We went Soviet.

Elections are NOT going to stop the tyranny being erected upon us.

All “elections” do now, is bide more time for those implementing our subjugation by giving it an appearance of legitimacy. “Elections” will install tyranny as a permanent ‘will’ of the people, and despotism will continue to be enacted under the color of law.

We’re down to the last box.

Defy. Resist. Do not comply.

Make them attempt to impose their will by force, and the real nature of who they are will be revealed, and we will have every justification to do what is necessary to defend what is left of our liberties.

That is the reality of where we have arrived.

Continue to play the game of politics at your own peril. There is no hope in them.

I won’t be voting again. And I’ve talked to lots of conservatives who are saying the same thing. The truth is the elections are controlled by the elites. They even tell us they don’t want us. That’s how sure they are that their candidate will win. Christy and McCain et al will slander conservatives and when they lose they’ll blame conservatives for not voting for them. When all the time those “winning” are the ones they want to win. Hillary is next.

An ebullient progressive was elected mayor of New York City.

Just out of curiosity... Does the Mayor-elect have any management/executive experience? I know he was something called a "public advocate." Isn't that like a community organizer??

Obama was the first man elected to the Presidency with no executive experience since Sen. Kennedy. (Who was the last non-executive before Kennedy??) Anyway, we are seeing the results of a "manager" who is learning on the job.

I think things will crash and burn in NYC in the not too distant future...

What is Gov. Christie’s position on ObamaCare? Is he a big supporter of it?

“...since Senator Kennedy...” I think commanding a patrol torpedo boat could be considered “executive experience” although not very high-level. Remind me of Mr. Obama’s service in uniform. Mr. Lincoln, other than his very short elected militia captaincy really had no executive experience that I know of. On the other hand, Presidents Washington, Jackson, Grant and Eisenhower had a ton of that sort of experience.

Unknown to me. His support of the 9/11 mosque was already a deal breaker for here.

I hear you.

Voting and elections WILL NOT stop where we are going. Fact of history is that when men who are unmoored from biblical morality rule, they will NEVER relent their power and instead expand it’s grip on their people to ensure they are never threatened with losing that power.

In such circumstances, rulers are ‘chosen’ for the people by the ruling class who lord over those they leech from. Elections are illusions to placate the people from acting in their own interests. That was self-evident last year and this week if anyone would care to be honest with the situation. But too many are stuck in Normalcy Bias to see the truth - because to see and understand it would shatter their faith in a nation that has been corrupted by evil.

The reality is that the federal Beast is self-aware, and it will not tolerate anyone or any group it suspects is a threat to it.

The only thing left for us, is to defy and resist the Beast altogether. Given where I think the Beast is positioned, we have no effective civil recourse left to us under the Ruling Class MarxoFascists and their GOP Judenrats. The vain hope in the state legislatures to arrest this tyranny, is a fools hope at best. We are too far past such a point of return at this juncture.

I remember when New York was becoming a giant ghetto back in the early Seventies and suspect it will quickly go back to that again. Doesn’t anybody remember all the pictures of the abandoned and burned out buildings in NYC and people wringing their hands, just like now with Detroit? It’ll only take a couple of years to go back to that again.

A lot of wishful thinking going on here by the ever clueless Dionne...NYC is already a leftist enclave, McCauliffe won by a hair (thanks to the planted “Libertarian” spoiler), and the Republicans still maintain control of Virginia’s legislature by a very wide margin.

"Shifts left?"

We started shifting left a century ago. We took a great leap during the depression. Then Johnson and Nixon contested to see which administration could pressure the biggest shift to the left.

We had a slowing of the tilt in Reagan, but we redoubled efforts after that.

All we have now is the culmination.

Christie ran briskly away from the party’s right wing

Umm, EJ - somehow you got off the MSM narrative track here. The narrative is that Chris Christie is a true conservative. You probably, in your haste to meet your deadline, left off the word "extreme" from in front of "right wing".

The People's Censorship Board for the Promotion of Progressive Values and the Destruction of Right Wing Bigotry will forgive this slip, BUT DON'T DO IT AGAIN, or you will be shipped to one of our Gulags in Alabama or Texas.
