Sarah Palin 2016: Former Alaska Governor Laying Groundwork For Possible Presidential Run

Sarah Palin may be once again dreaming of the White House and a run for the presidency in 2016.

After a long absence from the political arena, Palin appears to be strategically increasing her appearances and speeches while also taking solid aim at President Obama. This has led many political experts to conclude that she is aiming to enter the 2016 presidential race, or at least is trying to test the waters for a potential run.

The rumors kicked up a bit this week when a spokesman for the Rev. Billy Graham announced that Sarah Palin will be a guest for the reverend’s 95th birthday. Graham still carries great political sway, so much in fact that Mitt Romney carved out time to meet with Graham in the final days of the 2012 presidential race in the hopes of earning a public endorsement and assuring conservative voters.

Graham’s birthday celebration is also drawing other big names in the conservative world, including real estate mogul Donald Trump.

Sarah Palin has also taken her political tour to Iowa, one of the most important states for Republican hopefuls. On November 9 Palin is slated to speak at the annual banquet for the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition, an important conservative and evangelical group.

After spending a long stretch away from the spotlight, Palin is also ramping up her political attacks on President Obama in what could be the groundwork for her 2016 platform.

In a Facebook post entitled “Obama’s Debt Default is on His Shoulders While We Shoulder His Impeachable Offenses,” she placed the blame for the debt limit fight solely on Obama’s shoulders.

“Defaulting on our national debt is an impeachable offense, and any attempt by President Obama to unilaterally raise the debt limit without Congress is also an impeachable offense,” Palin wrote.

If Sarah Palin is planning a 2016 presidential run, she will have even more ammunition to boost her resume in the coming weeks. On November 12, three days after her planned speech in Iowa, Palin will be released a book taking on the conservative-friendly topic of the War on Christmas.

Pain promises that in the book — titled Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas — she will “tell you how to fight back against those politically correct Scrooges who seem to hate not just a beautiful holiday, but an entire faith.”

Sarah Palin is still a long way from an official 2016 presidential run, however, and likely wouldn’t declare any intention to run for several months.

Ooopppps. I guess I forgot to post the “SARC!” disclaimer. Let me offer a john f’n heinz kerry apology: “I’m sorry that you didn’t understand.” There, a kerryesque type apology. (he went to VN in case you forgot) :>) My wife tells me all the time “Honey, they don’t get your humor. Neither do I sometimes.”

"What difference does it make?"

Words that will come back to haunt her.

That's the main reason I've soured on Sarah. I'd prefer to see her run a PAC to support someone like Ted Cruz. Or run for and win the Begich seat in Alaska next year.

I still like her a lot and like even more what she represents, but she has some image rehab to do before I can take her seriously again.

I never said it was a talking point. I was talking about context. “Talking Point” is nonsense that sprang from your head.

The other stuff is was one person’s opinion. No way did SP say she was running.

Strike three.

Facts, please. I know that's asking a lot when there is an axe to grind.

FU2. I have no ax against Palin other than what she did as mayor of Wasilla and governor of Alaska or has come out of her mouth since, which has not impressed me other than that first speech.

Although I could dig something up, FReeper thackney would be the one to know where the best sources are on the effects of Palin's byzantine tax. He is highly regarded here on the topic, and is among those who went back to Texas as a result.

RE :”The other stuff is was one person’s opinion”

That was conservatives4Palin, not a lib

If she you say she wasnt running then the author has some great questions that must be answered :

One need only ask some basic questions to determine Mrs. Palin’s intentions.

1 – For what reason would Mrs. Palin insert herself into the 2010 election cycle? Why go out of her way to “endorse” local candidates all over the United States? And mostly TEA Party and grassroots conservative candidates?

2 – For what reason would Mrs. Palin take her entire family on a “bus tour” of historic sites around the United States? The key here is the BUS. If she wanted to tour these sites, she could easily do it in her family vehicle. Why stir up all the attendant media coverage?

3 – For what possible reason would Mrs. Palin need a movie about her political career? Remember, she had her staff approach Mr. Bannon about making some “short” segments. It was Mr. Bannon who made the decision to make a 2-hour movie, using his own money. Why didn’t she just say no?

4 – Why is she supporting this movie with appearances all over the United States? What is the point of traveling all over the U.S., generating press coverage everywhere, and shaking hands and speaking with people, voters, in every locale?

5 – Why are there O4P organizations in over 30 states, especially in all of the early primary states? Why didn’t Mrs. Palin just tell these people to stop? Is she that callous, that she would allow these people to waste their time and energy in this manner?

6 – Why does Mrs. Palin, a native and proud Alaskan, with a television series to prove it, need a home in Scottsdale, Arizona? Wouldn’t this be a complete jolt to her entire family? Where is Todd Palin going to find work on an oil rig, or pipeline, in Arizona?

With all respect, Gov. Palin needs to focus her efforts on returning Ted Stevens Senate seat to the GOP column. I don’t question her motives or her love for America, but she has to make an honest assessment of her relative chances and determine whether a failed run for the Presidency will help her country more than a successful run for the Senate. The media will not permit her to win the Presidency - they will go scorched earth on her again, will manufacture lies and subject her to endless ridicule. The “low information” voters will fall for the ruse, just as they did during the two Clinton elections and two Obama elections. In a free America with a truly independent media, I think she could win. But that is not the reality of today’s America.

RE :”The media will not permit her to win the Presidency “

In 2011 the MSM was either duped or they really knew she wasnt going to run but they ran all those teaser news stories because it sold magazines and air time to make people think she was. FNC really played it up all the while their execs knew she wouldnt run.

Whatever their motive they helped her convince many suckers here, and some libs, that she was running when she clearly had no intention to.

But they wont go for it again, it was single trick.

Is there a question to answer?

I was running an engineering department when Sarah Palin ran for and was elected governor. She ran on raising taxes against the oil companies and implemented that change, with the rate rising as profits rose. The change was made retroactive and made the companies pay taxes for a time period already taxed.

Many projects were put on hold. Alaskan North Slope projects tend to take years with the seasonal limits of heavy transportation and construction. There were many projects already in construction and fabrication that continued as most of the dollars were already spent.

Most new projects that were not significantly funded (ie still in planning, early design) were set aside and the engineers and designer’s laid off. My department was about a 1/3 its size in a year or so. I moved back to Texas and hired a couple people there that had worked for me in Alaska.

Since then the new Governor and Legislation has removed the “ACES” tax and has become more competitive with the lower 48. It is still too high, in my opinion, but it is significantly better and the oil companies have begun more significant spending.

If we pray for a leader who will take down Roe V Wade, God might give us a reprieve from His coming judgment.

I am with you on the team, but I’d reverse the ticket. I think Cruz is the more presentable and articulate because of his brilliant legal mind and I think Sarah is the right person to turn the office of VP into an active and engaged position instead of a person who mainly just goes to state funerals around the world.

I don’t think it matters who the president is until we change the hearts of the majority of people. As for God’s judgement, the Bible says Josiah sought the Lord with all his heart more than any other king. But God did not turn away his anger from Judah. Is it too late for us? I don’t know.

I actually did see it, I have no idea who you are, but to parrot the asinine slant of the media as you did, to presume she was stupid in that interview because, according to you (and SNL), she used the excuse that you could see Russia from parts of Alaska to display her foreign policy creds is as bad as it gets.

That's the kind of thing ignorant trolls with an agenda say, if you are one, then you are wearing it proudly. So far it's what I see from you on this matter.

“This, from someone who had to ask his wife whether Palin can win or not. I don’t even know where to start with such an ignorant comment such as that.”

Ignorant? No, just a datapoint from a woman who would vote for Sarah in a heartbeat. But when it comes to ignorance, those of you who worship Sarah, ought to actually assess her chances for success rather than take cheap shots at those of us who have a different viewpoint. Sarah would probably make a good president, but she would have to stand and fight, rather than cut and run when the heat is applied. Unfortunately, she’s never going to get the chance. I guess she could try a Ross Perot, and screw the whole country, but that’s about it. She isn’t in the same league with Cruz or Lee. She has no political base because she isn’t an office holder and hasn’t been one for years. So flame away!!
