President Obama promised the American people that under the Affordable Care Act (sometimes called ObamaCare), If you like your health care plan, you can keep you health care plan, period. He also promised that "the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums. That will be less than you are spending now.
Now that the reality is unfolding, it turns out both those promises have been broken in a way that has impacted many people. The Civitas Institute asked real North Carolinians to share how they have been impacted by the Affordable Care Act. The response was overwhelming: people losing their current coverage, sticker shock from skyrocketing premiums, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses rising dramatically, and workers having their hours cut.
This website is dedicated to telling real stories about real people and the impact of the Affordable Care Act. Be sure to share this site with people you know who wish to be educated about the true impact the Affordable Care Act is having on individuals and families.
And if you have a story about the cost of your insurance, impact on work or some other aspect of the Affordable Care Act --- please share your story using the tab above.

The mistake that will keep on punishing itself.
Of course we don’t want them to be damned forever. That’s stupid. That’s not God’s mission. It should not be ours. But once they actually feel evil doing something evil to them, we should point them to God, who gives victory over evil.
It is the same logic that describes the “religion of peace”. moozlums murder you and your family...now you are at peace. Voila!
I have recently heard some horror stories from friends and parishioners of our church. Every one of the hospitals in our city is cutting lots of employees. I know the number total is over 1,000. In one case, the employees of the hospital were notified weeks in advance that each and every employee would have a review. Many employees would be laid off. Many would be moved to hourly and become part time and the rest would be able to keep their full time positions.
In a meeting to the senior staff (who were included in the net), the CEO supposedly made a statement about people needing to know who they are voting for.
Anyway, they hired extra security during the week of reviews and there was two weeks of crying at the hospital as nurses, administrative folks, etc. awaited their fate.
Not surprised.
I would like those who have seen the error of their ways (understand the consequences of their vote for Obama) to repent in an apology for voting WHUTA (With Head Up Their A$$). Their penance can be to research and understand the conservative movement.
(Tongue and Cheek of course - not to diminish the sacramental value of our faith)
I think Obama and his spinmeisters have permanently lost control of this one.
Well, let’s not get so cute we obscure, rather than illustrate, the Lord... and no, even “conservative politics” can go godless, one way is by embracing lots of human-honored morality and a ceremonial God and letting that complex of constructs exclude the real, saving, loving, caring God. You can sail to hell on the starboard as well as the port side of the ship.
One of the acid tests here in modern days (to digress but this is on my mind) is how we deal with the aspect of the gospel urging us to “honor God in our body.” In that aspect — in that gospel command — lies the answer to a plethora of things from overweight to smoking to lack of exercise to alcohol and drug abuse to any sort of sexual intercourse outside matrimony. What we call modern conservatives are often hard to distinguish from modern liberals here. Now you don’t see so much outward homosexual conduct in the conservative world, but that is a fig leaf.
Anyhow (maybe it wasn’t such a digression at all) honoring God in our bodies includes letting our health care systems be free, as in the free market and free choice not as in free subsidized. Without that, the systems are going to follow the fads of bureaucrats.
how about

SO.... if the government takes over ‘health care’ (government hospitals), the next time there is a government ‘shutdown’ will Obama put barricades around the hospitals ?
Interesting comment.
I think the reason this has gotten the large, though still distinctly minority, support it has is because we are groping for an answer to the holiness hole in our soul.
Healthcare has become the grand stand-in of the day for the healing of God. Now it’s a pretty good servant in many ways. God has blessed our doctors and our pharmacies. But this is an attempt to cobble it up into an idol. IMHO, and maybe I’m reaching a bit spiritually. But if the explanation is useful, we should consider going with it. Once the idol is seen to be a ruthless taxer, people won’t want it so much any more. And, for now, another Obamascheme will bite the dust.
The prime motivation for the “sheeperal” leftist is to feel good about themselves as “good people”.
This is why no amount of logic penetrates.
This is why pointing out failures in the policies they support is treated as a personal attack - because to them, it is.
Yes, it is a spiritual battle. That’s really the only thing that’s real.
Well, even they might be able to be reasoned with in some cases.
You have to get at the root: what do they worship.
You can graciously share with them that people make lousy gods but wonderful servants. And don’t pre-judge the outcome. Might or might not gain ears, but it could plant a seed. And if they never listen, it is the witness that will serve against them.
BAM, now you’re breaking the law. Per Justice Roberts.
