BRUSSELS -- Since euthanasia was legalized in Belgium in 2002, Belgians have been euthanized for blindness, depression, anorexia nervosa, and a botched sex change operation.

Now, Belgians want to allow euthanasia for children.

Under legislation currently being debated in the Belgian Parliament, terminally ill or suffering children under 18 could be euthanized if they request it, their parents consent to it, and an expert deems the child capable of understanding their decision.

The bill is widely supported and is expected to become law.

My Uncle Fred , recently deceased, served with the 84th. Inf. Div. in Belgium during The Battle of The Bugle. He damn near lost his life doing so.He was lucky, he wasn't wounded too bad. A lot of his buddies weren't so lucky. They never stopped being nineteen. My uncle and thousands of other guys fighting and dieing and freezing their asses off in hellish cold and for what? I worked with some famous Autistic children...I am convinced there are many human attributes yet to be discovered.A shame if we were to “evolve” to a point where selection prohibits any of that.
