Capitol Hill talk regarding the Senate deal apparently includes a provision that would take away the Congress’ power to increase the debt ceiling. According to Politico, it looks like the buzz appears to be true.:
The plan includes a proposal offered by McConnell in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis that allows Congress to disapprove of the debt ceiling increase, which means lawmakers will formally vote on whether to reject a debt ceiling increase until Feb. 7. Obama can veto that legislation if it passes. If Congress fails as expected to gather a two-thirds majority to override the veto, the debt ceiling would be raised.

There is sinister purpose however: to get us used to using a debt limit date instead of a debt limit amount.

McConnell IS one of THEM. He’s certainly NOT an American anymore than the Democrats are. American’s respect the Constitution that gave life to their lives.
This story is a misreading of the bill (as I read it). What the bill says is that the debt ceiling is increased through Feb. 7. Any time between now and Feb. 7, Congress could pass a law that ends the suspension of the debt ceiling before Feb. 7 - so, for instance, if Obama decided to just go ahead and try to issue ten trillion dollars of new debt between now and February, Congress could put the brakes on that. The bill says nothing about what happens after Feb. 7.

It's not BS. The bill is public. I've read it. You can read it too. The provision being discussed in this article does not allow Obama to unilaterally raise the debt ceiling after Feb. 7 absent Congressional action. It allows Congress to reverse the increase UNTIL Feb. 7.

Looks like 0dumb0 will need to keep the federal parks & cemetaries & open air memorials shuttered indefinitely if another 2% has to be cut. Oh & BTW, I believe the sequestration only affects future projected growth spending, not real cuts to 2013 or 2014.
