Walmart shelves in Springhill, Mansfield, cleared in EBT glitch
KSLA ^

Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits.

The chaos that followed ultimately required intervention from local police, and left behind numerous carts filled to overflowing, apparently abandoned when the glitch-spurred shopping frenzy ended. Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, "It was worse than any black Friday" that he's ever seen. Lynd explained the cards weren't showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn't press charges if she left the food. Lynd says at 9 p.m., when the cards came back online and it was announced over the loud speaker, people just left their carts full of food in the aisles and left.

"Just about everything is gone, I've never seen it in that condition," said Mansfield Walmart customer Anthony Fuller.

Evans believes it was natural human reaction that led people to fill up their carts during the glitch, but Walmart shoppers Stan and Judy Garcia feel very differently. "That's plain theft, that's stealing that's all I got to say about it," said Garcia.

“...will the government just eat the loss? Or even make Walmart eat the loss?”

Maybe, if they were a union outfit, they would have some protection.

Nationally, Walmart receives between 25 and 40% of all EBT grocery dollars.

Is it really that high? That is amazing if true.

I may have to add EBT zones to my list of no-go places, along with gun free zones.

And were the LA cops barricading the vets memorial? No, they were on duty where they were supposed to be. Two different places, two different events.

Because nobody spends on food like the people whose full grocery budget comes from food stamps. They don’t look for sales and they don’t use coupons.

I was behind a group last week at Walmart using an EBT card at Walmart with their cart overflowing. They were young and looked like they could work, yet I would bet not one had a job, nor was looking for a job. Also had expensive sneakers, as this group typically does. And after they checked out, they stopped at McDonalds!

When SHTF happens, be on the lookout for pimped out Hondas and people with expensive shoes. At least we can see them coming a mile away.

What happens is the mother doesn’t list anybody on the birth certificate and the father has some day job. The mother collects full benefits and so long as dad’s working, the family lives pretty well. Including new cars. It’s unbelievable, but it happens all the time. There really ought to be negative repercussions for not declaring a father on the birth certificate. And then the father and mothers’ incomes both need to be figured before granting food stamps. It’s a huge abuse of the system and it’s happening more and more.

I was in one last week, and noticed their vegetables are not cheap. I told Mrs. JohnnyP the customers don’t care, they pay for it with free money.

Walmart would take the loss. The government would owe them nothing. Whatever manager allowed this was crazy or terrified.

If that is happening, that is fraud. And they need to be prosecuted for it.

It’s the Freebie Class jus’ doin’ its thing. This is what we have to look forward to when the country is too broke to keep giving away stuff. Too bad all the old Communists in office now won’t be here to see the results of their vote-buying programs.

Rots O’ Ruck with that.

I worked with a man who lived with this woman for years and had 2 kids by her, I asked him why he didn’t marry her, and he said it would cost him $4,000 dollars a month if they got married.

Because I see few honest blacks.

I gotta disagree. Where I work the blacks are as honest and hardworking as anyone else. OF COURSE the difference is that I work in an office environment and I only see the ones who actually WANT to work and get ahead. Those who hang out waiting for their stolen loot from the government are a different sort althgether.
