This affects me; an inconvenience. Can’t shop at the commissary (appropriated funds) but the local grocery stores will be happy to get the business. Golf courses are a different pot of money (non-appropriated funds).

Different pots of money. Commissaries take federal welfare, golf courses are self funded. Huge difference.

The WWII Memorial was built with private donations, and a trust fund pays for operations and maintenance.
Yesterday, I posted a blog entry from a guy in Arizona that operates campgrounds on federal land. They are completely funded by fees paid by campers. The Forest Service is closing him down, apparently on orders from the White House.

Thanks for a proper link. The article explains why this is so but it is nevertheless disturbing to read. I was sitting next to a GS employee on a recent flight and he informed me that most commissaries and exchanges in the US will be closed next year for budgetary reasons. I guess our stateside troops are getting an early tase of what the future holds.
Commissaries are part of an “earned” benefit package - perhaps one of the biggest benefits
Think the benefits are generous? Then join the military, it’s all volunteer
Might as well say military salaries and military healthcare are also “welfare” and lump soldiers right in there with the takers

Ditto with Mt Vernon- never took a dime of federal money but yesterday obamagoons barrycaded the Mt Vernon tour bus turnaround area for “maintenance” as noted by Newt Gingrich by a twitter feed
someone in barry’s administration had a well planned hit list of sites to target to punish the half of the American people who are resisting the Won
