I think what should have been done first is to get people out of our medical care that never should have been there to begin with...illegals that get free care, especially at hospitals and don’t pay. Illegals have been a terrible strain on hospitals and doctors financially for many years and the reason is when they don’t pay their bill others have to pay more to cover it. I remember when it was financially possible to pay for medical care without insurance- and the funny thing is doctors made more money then. Without the illegals in the equation costs of medical care could have been reduced.
The next thing to solve the problem should have been changing the laws about selling insurance- doing away with some of the government regulations on companies selling insurance only in certain states, all that red tape so insurance companies would have been forced to compete with each other, which would have driven down costs of insurance. If insurance companies had to compete they would be selling policies targeted to individuals at a lower cost so it would not have to be job related.
After that it would have been easier to figure out what needed to be done to fix our health care/insurance crisis. At that point it likely wouldn’t have been a crisis but it might have still needed a little something. This is where things like people being uninsurable due to previous condition and things like that could have been addressed.
Problem is getting illegals out of our medical burden would require getting them deported out of the country and not allowing them to come here to begin with, which is not politically correct. In fact I am sure that would be considered racist.
Changing laws to force insurance companies to compete would not be done by dishonest politicians either since the insurance company lobbyists line the pockets of politicians to make sure things like that don’t happen.
All useless acts and debate.
Look up the Health Care Financing Authority. This is where the Demoncrats started it. Since the day that monster became law healthcare has been a government operation designed to usher in a single payer system.
Until that original law is pulled out by the roots then we are just tilting at windmills! But don’t believe me go look it up for yourselves.
That may never happen unless we elect real statesmen who are concerned about the fact that this is supposed to be a REPUBLIC!
Gregory’s Meet the Press is his weekly audition for the position of Chief Obama Spokesperson.
So far, he’s killin’ the interview part. He’s a shoe-in.
Is this a Ted Cruz ping?
Cruz made mincemeat of him, and the DC GOP hate Cruz for the same reason Gregory and the rest of the Press does.
He is smarter than they are , and is effective at communicating the truth and exposing liars.
To HELL with the domestic marxists, delay commie care or the lazy parasite federal workers can stay home until 2014.
What I liked a lot is that Ted Cruz gets even better when he's challenged. How nice to have a politician who can think and talk at the same time.
How I would love to see Ted Cruz debate Obama on the subject of the United States Constitution!!!!!
I think you mean respectful, not respectable.
Right on lonestar. Tired of the lies and phony seduction of the Left.
The “government’s role” is in removing or repealing existing barriers to real free markets in health insurance.
My favorites are interstate marketing and job-to-job portability.
No thank you.
I DO NOT WANT government in my health care regardless of what letter follows a person’s name.
No, that was American companies being forced to "send jobs overseas" by government over-taxation and over-regulation, not to mention union "work rules" and other ridiculous demands. You're one-note samba is, as always, off key.
I believe what we have now, is the best plan we have out there right now. With Obamacare.
Bunky, if you support government-run communist health care, you are definitely on the wrong site.
Nice to see you have finally outed yourself, though. You rat troll.
I WILL NOT EAT green eggs and ham.
Baloney.
Cruz is brilliant. BUT...I wish he and others would address the fact that a segment of the population will LOVE obamacare....at least for a while.
People who never had health insurance, people who get kicked out of their company provided health care, will go to the exchanges. Based on the way our economy is now, too many will qualify for lots of subsidies. IOW a $15K policy will cost them next to nothing. The rest of us will be paying for it. It will be one of the largest transfers of wealth. It will break the bank. Choices will be further limited than they are now. People will not be able to get timely health care. People will die. It will happen over time. But for now, people will be getting health insurance at little cost to themselves.
I WILL NOT SERVE my public servants.
Just because one may have Obamacare health insurance does not mean that one’s health gas been or will be cared for.
It only means that one was forced to buy something and that one complied.
Ditto
There needs to be some protection for pre-existing conditions.
