New House GOP bill delays health law by 1 year

House Republicans on Saturday pushed the government to the edge of a partial shutdown next week, insisting that President Barack Obama’s health care law be delayed a year in defiance of White House and the Democratic-controlled Senate.

They rejected a Senate bill passed Friday that would keep the government operating another 45 days and make no changes to the health law. Instead, House Republicans prepared to pass their own version Saturday and throw the issue back to the Senate, which is not scheduled to return until Monday afternoon, 10 hours before the shutdown deadline.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has insisted the Senate would not pass a bill that alters the law. The White House has said Obama would veto such a bill. …

This will be fun.

Reid and Obambi have already said they want a shut down, and will blame it on the House GOP (and the TEA party). The MSM is geared up for that, and so is the Senate. Up to the point where Harkin and others are hinting that “something needs to be done” about the TEA party.

Yet, the House GOP follows along the script.

The Senate holds the power, and I fully expect that to become clear soon. Or that Obama will just order healthcare bill enforced, and let the courts settle out who pays.

"We’re just four votes away from prevailing on the cloture vote. THis thing could unravel in the senate."

You are thinking of the final vote to amend and send back to the House. The cloture vote was 79 to 19. We lost badly. This will rise or fall on Boehner's willingness to stand on some ground, almost any ground, and Reid's intransigence in saying he will not accept anything but a clean CR as passed by the Senate.

SLAY IT. Don’t delay it,

Boehner is rescuing Obama, just like Putin did with Barky’s Red Line gaffe.

I agree totally with Rush on this. ObamaCare’s most intense pain won’t be felt by Americans until AFTER the 2014 Mid-term Elections. Furthermore, Obama and his MSM accomplices will blame all post-2014 pain on the GOP.

Well, as always politics is the art of the possible.

“No money for the beast this year” has to beat “keep on feeding it.”

Sorry, not good enough.

Why? Given the control of the Senate and POTUS by Demos, isn't this move excellent?

“I agree. Let the dammmm thing roll out and then let everyone see!”

See what? The first people enrolling will be the ones getting freebies. This is a standard democrat vote buying operation. Do you honestly think that Obamacare is about healthcare? Do you think that Pelosi and Reid give a rat’s a$$ if people are dying out there? Nope.

Obamacare is about getting people hooked on the federal government. It’s about power. Every Obamacare recipient will be a democrat voter because republicans are threatening to take it away.

Medicare is just as socialist as obamacare but nobody is talking about defunding it because millions are already hooked.

Once obamacare is implemented the fight will end.

it delays voters from the pain of Obamacare until after the election...

There seem to be two diverging opinions in the FR threads regarding 2014 impact. I fail to see the notion that a 1-year delay puts it off till AFTER the election. If it is 1 year, I note that the election is 1 year and 1 month. Doesn't that fact make the issue even more to the forefront of the 2014 campaign? It's not just the exact timing of the end of the delay, but the notion that it is a current and relevant issue. That should be enough to make it even more of an issue during primaries, and certainly for the big election month of October 2014.

I’d say to do the thing that is closest to being cosmically right. Do not feed an evil beast even if the promise not to feed it is only for a year.

i see your points.

I am thinking it can’t “roll out” except the beginning of its implementation creates such massive problems in the first year that will force a repeal or such revisions that it won’t be the bill anymore. we have 54% of the population now that doesn’t want it...with its “beginning” it will be even more hideous within the first year and that % will grow to where the Dems are Forced to repeal it.

“If you can’t control the present when the means are there, how are you going to control the future? “

The RINOs don’t want the GOP to control the future. They are really disguised Democrats, so they want the Democrats to win (except for an issue or two they disagree with their fellow Democrats about).

The Democrats are the criminals, and the left-wing Republicans are the crooked cops. No matter who wins, we get robbed.

Yes, I believe this will happen. The kenyan has been spoiling for a direct assault on the GOP and our constitutional framework.

The Dems will let the government shut down for a week or two and then the kenyan will order obamacare enforced by fiat. Who is going to stop him? Nobody.

If I am not mistaken, I believe Joe Manchin (D-WV) has already indicated he would vote to delay the mess.

The people very quickly will see what the results are, and feel the pain.

Nope, cuz enough of them are going to be subsidized that they will drown out the cries of the producers.

The producers will do what they always do. Get up go to work, do with less and bend over.

The very wealthy, they won't feel it.

In case you missed it, this delay is what the democrats wanted in the first place, it delays voters from the pain of Obamacare until after the election

I think if the republicans need disaster to happen in this nation in order to win the next election, they should quit their day job. Perhaps they should find some... issues??
