Expecting ObamaCare's Collapse Is Living In Wonderland

Posted 09/27/2013 06:52 PM ET

Entitlements: Give Democrats as much ObamaCare rope as they want, then sit back and watch them hang themselves. This advice from some pundits is the kind of thing that will make ObamaCare permanent.

The late, great Bob Bartley, longtime editor of the Wall Street Journal, writing in 1992 in his definitive account of the Reagan prosperity, "The Seven Fat Years," issued a warning about government-controlled health care.

He called it "absolutely true that in the long term we will be unable to control government expenditure if the government keeps assuming new responsibilities."

And Bartley cautioned: "When medical insurance coverage is mandated, experience shows, there is enormous pressure for it to cover more and more services. ... If the government is going to assume or mandate universal health care, we will have to draw a line somewhere. ... If we cannot do this, medical care will grow into a limitless entitlement, defeating any attempt to hold the line on spending and taxes."

The Communists in Russia consolidated their power by creating a health care system where not had previously existed. Something to think about.

They will do anything and everything possible to keep the lie alive - I honestly think that includes the government assassination of people that get too bothersome for them.

All for the Magic Negro....

And the RINO Establishment knows it.

It will be a disaster. Parts will collapse on themselves. This will only make the “progressives” in both parties fight harder for their government medical scheme. You see, it’s not about medicine or healthcare. It’s about control.

I agree 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just another trick the Dems are perpetrating on those who are opposing it, getting people to back off trying to stop it, until it’s too late and it’s past the point of no return, which is rapidly approaching.

The only option is to delay it, then get a Republican Congress and president, otherwise we are all done, literally and figuratively.

Of course it’s about control, when they can dictate who lives & who dies, they don’t need to do anything else to have complete control of us.

0bamacare collapsing isn’t the worry. that’d be a blessing

the concern is 0bamacare surviving... for a little while

US healthcare costs over $3 trillion annually. they expect to bring in $500 billion to pay for it (nothing like democrat ‘finances’). considering our debt is increasing by $1.5 trillion/yr on annula tax revenues of $2 trillion... this means we’re spending $3.5 trillion now. tack on $3 trillion in spending... and $500 billion in revenues.. and you have $6.5 trillion spending with only $2.5 trillion in revenues. so... $4 trillion to the debt EVERY YEAR

0bamacare ‘surviving’ means the country doesn’t

That's true, as far as it goes, but it does not really explain the big picture.

In 1965, the government guaranteed that the taxpayers would pay all reasonable and necessary (possibly useful) medical bills, without limit, for persons over 65.

At the time, persons over 65 did not consume a lot of medical services. One of the reasons was that the market had not yet created:

Artificial joints, fiberoptic endoscopes, CT scanning, MRI, renal dialysis, implantable defibrillators, mobile coronary care units, cloned human proteins to dissolve clots, microsurgery, proton beam radiation and the gamma knife, chemotherapy for common cancers, implantable lenses and safe cataract removal, and so on and so on.

Not a single one of these things would have been developed as a commercial product without the government promise that the taxpayers would pay all bills without limit.

Tax collections for this purpose have been insufficient since at least 1986. Both Republicans and Democrats have since then been printing and borrowing money as fast as possible to cover the payments, and now, even that has become insufficient.

Expecting ObamaCare's Collapse Is Living In Wonderland,

There won't be a collapse causing patients and doctors to march from their hospitals to the Capitol.

Instead there will be a slow, grinding down to a lower level of care. Older patients will be told "I'm sorry, but there's nothing more we can do for you," except that "can" now means there is no medical treatment will mean "no medical treatment is allowed by the government for you". I expect that any doctor stating that explicitly will soon run into an array of problems, so most will just keep to the simple "nothing can be done". More patients will die of cancer in their old age, more will die of heart disease and the life expectancy will drop by a year or two.

To counter that, the department of medical propaganda will produce many statistics showing how many more kids are vaccinated or treated for asthma in the doctor's primary care nurse practitioner's office and hope that you don't notice that that your parents died untreated of something that your grandparents were treated for and lived another five happy years with the family.

You'll tell your kids stories of the days when you could get an MRI appointment the next day rather than in three months, when you could see a doctor rather than a nurse, and when if you were unhappy with your provider you were allowed to go to another one.

The British National Health Service hasn't collapsed. It just isn't very good. And unlike Canada, there are no escape valves to the south... at least until Obamacare drives out so much of our quality that a Tijuana doctor looks like a good alternative.

We can never get control of Congress and the Presidency if we don’t fight back. We let them call us names and put out lies and don’t raise a hand in response.

Call them what they are, socialists, dictators, fascist tyrants. Show how they manipulate the people by avoiding the Obamacare showdown until the very last minute so they could hang a gov’t shutdown on the Republicans and force Congress to play their game

Fight back, dammit!!

Yes this will collapse for more reasons then I have time. Number one is no way their going to get the young to go along with this. Millions of kids have student loans in default. All they have to is go to the Department of Education website ....do their financials ...get a payment they can afford...and their set. Thing is this established website is so convoluted only three out of ten make it through....what do you think the failure rate on these exchanges will be...Ha

A republican congress and a republican president.

Well, we can see what a republican congress does. Cornyn, form Texas, mind you, would not answer the phone.

The phones at all of his offices were shut off. We are supposed to think that once they have a majority, and they don’t even use the reasonable word ‘IF’, then they will do their jobs.

Republican congress, really? Look at the House of Representatives, who actually HAVE a majority.

A republican president. Look at McCain. He acted this way in 1998, when they had the majority in the senate and he, who was the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, was concerned, at the time of Clinton’s impeachment, not with having an impeached sex addict as CIC, but with raising funds for his failed presidential bid, which he eventually ran as, in character, a loser.

they dragged Romney out yesterday, I guess hoping to have us reminisce about days of strength in leadership.

He said, what he always said, that we need to follow Obama.

Republicans in power will solve this. NO. They need to get out of the way And they are feeling that this week.

The only way to fix any of this is to get those men out of office. they, and their staffers, don’t know What IS GOING ON. we assume they know what we know. They do not. They don’t read. they are steeped in comfort and power games. They do not listen to conservatives.

But conservatives have show them up and are telling them we don’t need you any more than you think you need us.

They do need conservatives. they are feeling that now.

But it will take a while to replace them and now there is Obama with all this trouble he’s causing.

Whatever, status quo republicans have proven that they cannot manage the power they have. And it’s over. The only thing left is for them to realize it.

Cornyn was absolutely stuttering on Hannity’s show. He is so lost. Once he realizes it’s over he’ll go away stuttering, but whoever takes over for him will breeze into the primary much more easily than the unknown, Ted Cruz did, last year with not much more than a Sarah Palin endorsement. His record takes care of the rest.

Republican establishment died this week during the first hour of Cruz’ filibuster.

First constitution, ever, that declared healthcare a "right".

Despite all the "matchbook girl" stories, Russia had a world class healthcare system, for that time, before the revolution. It quickly degraded to no one getting any care in putrid, filthy conditions.

..... YUP ...... Social Security, Medicare, Food Stamps, and all manner of entitlements that became insolvent failures over the years definitely insured the demise of those programs and assured that no Democrat ever got elected again ..... NOT!!!!

...... In fact .... all of the entitlements still exist to this day. And further .... blood curdling accusations, screams and shrieks pierce through the political air every time a conservative even thinks of defunding even a portion of any of the aforementioned entitlements.

.... Unfortunately..... Once an entitlement is born into this world it quickly becomes a political hot potato ward of the state to be kept on life support for all eternity. The only way to effectively stop an entitlement is to make sure it is never born in the first place. So yes ..... Abort the monstrosity before it is born or the undead beast will consume this entire nation.

No way to fight...what do you propose as a fighting tactic?

Phone calls? Faxes? Emails? Withholding your vote?

As long as politicians can play god ith no term limits this is the shit we get.

As long as the gods are immune fom the laws they pass on to us...we will drown in their shit...
