House passes spending bill to defund Obamacare
The Washington Times ^ | September 20, 2013 | Stephen Dina

Posted on 09/20/2013 8:44:24 AM PDT by yoe

House Republicans passed their stopgap funding bill Friday to keep government open while terminating the new health care law, setting up a final showdown next week with Senate Democrats and President Obama who have firmly rejected that.

The 230-189 vote, which split almost exclusively along party lines, is the precursor to the big action next week, when the Senate is expected to strip out the health care provisions and send the bill back to the House — where Republicans will have to decide whether they can accept it at that point.

All sides are racing a Sept. 30 deadline, which is when current government funding runs out. The new measure would fund the government through Dec. 15, essentially at last year’s levels, and would leave the budget sequesters in place.

Only 2 dems and 1 pub didn’t vote along party lines so ... yes ... it was a vote down party lines

“Down in the mouth freepers...”

Funny. Largely redundant.

This is nothing more than smoke and mirrors by socialist Republicrats(Republicans and Democrats)to divert attention from the fact regulating healthcare is not an enumerated power granted to Congress in Article I Section VIII of the U.S. Constitution. It is a power reserved to the states or to the people per the 10th Amendment. Any action taken by the federal government regarding healthcare, including defunding, is unconstitutional. That fact aside, expecting the very branch of government, who usurped the people's Constitutional rights, to restore those rights is as unrealistic as expecting a thief to voluntarily return property he stole from you. The people must rely on themselves, not government, to take back those powers. That can only occur by nullifying an unconstitutional act of Congress. See www.nullifynow.com for more information.

help me here.

this legislation means what?
it repeals Obamacare, or not? if yes, why not use the
word repeal.

PPACA funds the subsidy in perpetuity.
it can’t just be ‘Zero-lined’.

some of the side issues of Obamacare
need ‘normal’ funding.
is that what we are talking about here?

Yup....This for show. Watch how fast they cave when the Senate sends it back.

It is for show. Thats why this vote is nothing but a farce. The GOP is hoping we’re dumb enough to fall for it.

“GOP Doc: Vote to Defund Obamacare, Let Senate Erase It”

“A document House Majority Leader Eric Cantor distributed to all House Republicans on Tuesday, obtained by Breitbart News, confirms that he is planning to make it appear as though the House is voting to defund Obamacare while using a legislative procedural trick which would allow the Democrat-controlled Senate to strip defunding language from the Continuing Resolution.”

Yeah maybe a magical unicorn will appear on the senate floor farting out rainbow sanity gas and influence the RepubicRats to vote ethically in a rare moment of logic and reason

“The House should do this with Medicare and Social Security.

No reason why we fund those programs at all when both are generational theft”

It will be difficult for a lot of people if those benefits are terminated, but that's the price you have to pay for putting your faith in a communist system.

That's why I'm not as concerned about Obamacare as
with Social Security and Medicare. If the American people actually experience it for a few years, the calamitous effects will be clear, and it won't be so hard to do away with, since after it is repealed most people will just continue to buy insurance in the same manner as before.

What worries me is that the next time around, after Obamacare is gone, the libs are going to pass a “free medical care for everyone” by expanding Medicare to cover all age groups. Once that is passed, there will be no going back.

It’s good to hear from the fighters. Soldiers don’t go into battle with a defeatist attitude, they go in it to win it. Negative talk and hand wringing is not the kind of reinforcement we need...we know what we’re up against. A positive mindset and a strong focus on what we intend to accomplish IS what we need.

Down in the mouth freepers start their “it doesn’t matter” chants in 3,2,1,...

But it really won't matter, because Obama will threaten the House and Senate with all the dirt he has on them, they'll all cave, and Obamacare will be funded.

This is the final chapter of the last vestiges of the Republic.

Bullshite at this level, put forth by these people at a juncture where the possible outcome is a pivotal point in the country’s historical arc, means they no longer have even the slightest fear of the general public, and no longer will provide even this level of charade to maintain the illusion of republicanism,

The House GOP leadership (and the vast majority of their corporate sponsors/owners/masters) just told the conservative base to go f’ing die in a ditch as fast as possible. And slow witted conservatives on FR and other online message boards are cheering this message.

The House should do this with Medicare and Social Security.

No reason why we fund those programs at all when both are generational theft

A personal question how old are you and what have you contributed to these programs, that you want to end ?

And its generational theft and redistribution economics. Essentially SSI/Medicare are anti American and there is no way we can continue to fund those programs without further crushing young people, who are already being slaughtered financially by this administration.
