Norway's opposition Conservatives, promising tax cuts and better healthcare, won elections in a landslide on Monday but faced tough coalition talks with a populist party that wants to spend more of the accumulated oil riches and curb immigration.
Led by Erna Solberg, a former girl scout leader who has overcome dyslexia, the Conservatives promise to diversify the economy away from oil, privatize state firms, and reduce some of the world's highest taxes rates to give the private sector more breathing room.

We need to be more like Norway.... and Australia.
First Australia and now Norway.
Maybe we are seeing a ‘fundamental’ change in the direction of world governments.
Even Canada is trending conservative these days!
Conservatism is kewl!

Good news but don’t get too excited. The Norwegian Conservative party roughly lines up with the U.S. Democratic party, Bill Clinton edition. Nevertheless it’s an improvement over the further-left Norwegian Labor party that’s been in power way too long.
The best news is that Conservatives will govern in coalition with the immigration-restrictionist Progress Party. (Though that party seems to be watering itself down as of late.)
You’re 100% right. These ‘conservatives’ in Norway are more conservative than David Cameron, but they’re still John Boehner/Rob Portman types. Still better than anything they’ve had for the past 30 years.
Abbott for Australia looks more promising however.
Things are trending our way, but don’t start popping champagne corks just yet.
This could have been us...but we nominated Romney!
Its Bizarre World Norway moves towards a more classic liberal government and the US President doubles down on social and economic engineer. Hope all the millennial enjoy their part time jobs for the next three years.
Thanks Oldeconomybuyer.
