I can understand complaining that he’s innocent until proven guilty, even though that’s a criminal standard, not a standard for holding office. I’m having a harder time understanding the idea that we should let him slide once or twice, or 15 times, on sexual harassment.

Who’s the bottom feeder in this food chain? The people who want to forgive a guy with more than a dozen accusations of misconduct against him? The people who “reason” that just because he didn’t harass literally every woman he met must mean he’s innocent of 15 charges? Or the people hinting that this is some sort of conspiracy against him because he stands for the powerless or whatever?

Absolutely surreal. Veterans and neighborhoods want to stop the mockery of justice that comes from what? Public revelations of Filner's conduct? I don't even understand the play here. Do they really want him to stay in office? Or is this just another chance for a bunch of lazy, freeloading Democrat bums to protest something to feel their lives have meaning?

Well, Bob Filner was an early member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
This sort of thing is nothing new. Nina Burleigh would've performed a certain sexual act for Bill Clinton because he was her kind of president. Showing up at a pro-Filner rally is certainly less painful, less embarrassing, and less likely to lead to catching some painful and embarrassing disease--unless Filner shows up as well.

Why didn’t this come to a head earlier? He obviously has been behaving like this his entire political career. There’s no way that Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer did not know very well back in Washington D.C. how Filner treats women.
