And some Freepers wonder why there is growing dilike for LEOs. He should have rolled up with his SWAT buddies in his departments shiny new MRAP, covered head to toe in the latest tactical gear and body armor while toting his just out of the box M-4 with military grade opticts. On the way in after kicking in the door, he should have shot the dog and tazed the damn cat. This guy is a classic example of a pussy. This is what he gets paid to do. If he can’t do it he needs to find another line of work.

So, now you have to weigh the risk of not calling 911 vs the risk of calling 911?

What a panty-waist deputy. Or perhaps it is a two bit department that didn’t train their deputies. Being a deputy is an inherently dangerous job, and being prepared would seem to me to be part of it. That is why they carry a gun.

It would occur to me that any 911 call that didn’t have “fire” or “heart attack” in it might be dangerous.

One more reason to be armed at home and prepared to defend the castle.

No , the bath salts in the mall are actually used to soften the water , add fragrance and such ... There are several varieties of designer drugs that are sold labeled as “bath salts” so that the creators and sellers escape the law... I believe the face eating homeless man in Miami was enjoying the effects of the second variety of “bath salts” ..

Every day we have servant leaders who are responding to calls from the community. Continue to call us if you need the help, and we'll be there. And we'll be there to help," says Harris county Sheriff Adrian Garcia.

...and then we'll sue you!

Many LEO’s have become “gym rats.” Pumping iron to be able to maintain control of the situation.

I suspect that many have started using “steroids” to help their bodies recover.

I believe it is time to start Steroid testing LEO’s.

We have random Steroid testing in high school in Texas.

The band and golf teams, why not the guys with a gun?

That’s not how this case went down. There was a lot going on in that house that wasn’t reported by the Houston Chronicle or the local news.

The woman in this case knew the guy in her house was violent, knew he had been ingesting drugs and even knew her own children were in danger. She did not report that to the paramedics or the sherriffs. She then sent the deputy into her home knowing that the man, Kemal Yazar, was extremely violent and had “drunk some tea that caused him to have hallucinations.” That quote is from “a relative” of Yazar.

In the end, Pullen was jumped, horribly beaten and hospitalized and barely escaped with his life. He has to undergo plastic surgery to repair the damage to his disfigured face.

While the Deputy was in the hospital, the Houston Chronicle opened up on Officer Pullen for “killing an unarmed man in his own home,” a massive stretch of the truth. Yazar was tazed twice and continued to beat on Officer Pullen. He was shot when he tried to acquire Officer Pullen’s side arm.

This not a case of Barney Fife stubbing his toe while trying to rescue a kitty in a tree. It’s a lot more complicated. He was not “tacticalled up” and no SWAT was involved. He was asked to go into the home by the homeowner who wanted protection for herself and her children, who knew the deputy was in physical danger but failed to warn him or anyone else of the known threat.

Should he sue? I don’t think so. I wasn’t subjected to the harrassment brought on by sensationalist reporting and e-thugs, though. Do I think this will help his case? No I don’t. I think it will make things worse. I think this was the only bad decision he’s made. After the media assault that has taken a real toll on his family, I’m guessing he just wants to do anything to make himself feel like he’s not just a victim and that he can protect his family. All he did was respond to a woman’s call for help.

Most of the posters on this thread should be ashamed for taking the story at face value. Since when has the MSM ever told you the truth? There are plenty of examples of police taking the law into their own hands, abusing power, killing innocent people and violating our rights. This isn’t one of them and he isn’t one of those cops.

If the perp is acting insane and like they're messed up on drugs then all the caller has to say is that they didn't want to be accused of profiling a Democrat.

ROFLOL

They do have random testing. Good grief. Talk about jumping to conclusions.

He’d get a real kick if he knew the current internet theory is that he’s a gym rat on steroids.

Please wait until after he’s recovered from the plastic surgeries he has to have on his face.

Oh wait, they didn’t include that part in the MSM hit piece did they?

Thank you for the clarification. It’s amazing how a few facts can alter one’s opinion. Until I got to your post, I was inclined to think poorly of the officer. This puts the situation in a whole new light.

Excellent point about not believing the media. It’s almost a guarantee that if they write a story that favors one side of an issue, I’m on the other side, especially after I get the facts.

He may have. He was doing drugs because he was depressed, got violent and threatened the homeowner and her kids. The homeowner called the POPO and didn't tell them he was violent and on hallucinogenic drugs. When the officer went into the house as requested by the homeowner, the officer was jumped, severely beaten and almost killed. The new rules are the same as the old: If you call 911 to get a guy out of your house and the operator asks you if he's taken anything, you shouldn't lie and say, "no."

I wish I could say more, but everyone already “knows” the story anyway. By the time the truth comes out, it won’t matter. The “truth,” aka “the story,” was written by the Houston Chronicle before a single fact was known by anyone but the two men who walked away from that house.

This whole even has been very instructive for me. I have to be careful before judging.

You have no idea what you’re talking about in this case. He exercised a lot more restraint than I would have and a WHOLE lot more restraint than George Zimmerman. The suspect was tased twice and was fought to get under control. It wasn’t until the guy got his hand on Pullen’s side arm that he got shot. Pullen could have legitimately shot him long before his face was pulverized and permanently damaged.

But hey, what do you care about what really happened? You have cute internet memes to pimp!

She called for an ambulance because she said he was sick. You do realize 911 goes to fire and ambulance as well, don’t you? Maybe you don’t.

You can call 911 and get someone OTHER than the police, like, FIREMEN and AMBULANCEMEN! Okay?

“”We’re police officers- we’re not trained to deal with violence!”

Cops have become just as fascist as the government in that movie. Unfortunately, our cops are quite familiar with violence and love dishing it out.

Maybe. Maybe someone learned you have to lie to get police to act. I remember the last time I needed cops, because some drugged up nut was trying to get in the house thinking it was his home. it took nearly an hour. Maybe if I had told them he has a gun and so do I, they’d have had a little sense of urgency.

There is always the old joke about a guy calling 911 over burglars, and being told it would be an hour before the cops arrive.
He then called back and said take your time, I shot them. When the cops arrive a few minutes later, they arrested the criminals.
A cop asked “I thought you said you shot them?”
The citizen responded. “I thought you said it would be an hour before you could get me help.”
