When the officer went into the house as requested by the homeowner, the officer was jumped, severely beaten and almost killed. The new rules are the same as the old: If you call 911 to get a guy out of your house and the operator asks you if he’s taken anything, you shouldn’t lie and say, “no.” “
Maybe. Maybe someone learned you have to lie to get police to act. I remember the last time I needed cops, because some drugged up nut was trying to get in the house thinking it was his home. it took nearly an hour. Maybe if I had told them he has a gun and so do I, they’d have had a little sense of urgency.
There is always the old joke about a guy calling 911 over burglars, and being told it would be an hour before the cops arrive.
He then called back and said take your time, I shot them. When the cops arrive a few minutes later, they arrested the criminals.
A cop asked “I thought you said you shot them?”
The citizen responded. “I thought you said it would be an hour before you could get me help.”
