Posted on 08/16/2013 6:35:33 PM PDT by Kaslin
There's a certain page on Facebook people of faith do not like.
Created in February, the Virgin Mary Shouldve Aborted Facebook page originally included this controversial description, presumably speaking from Marys perspective:
I'm here to explain what really happened in biblical times, since the bible is full of lies. My rapist's offspring has destroyed the planet and brainwashed millions. Rage-quitting is for loose buttholes.
Bible-believing Facebook users who are members of the group, Catholics & Protestants Against FB Religious Discrimination led the online fight to have the page taken down -- and succeeded. But, they didnt have long to celebrate. As the religious group reports, Facebook just reversed its decision. Now, the newly republished "Virgin Mary Should've Aborted" page has over 8,000 likes.
Cary Bogue, the founder of Project Wildfire, a pro-life group which combats mixed messaging from Planned Parenthood, called into the radio show "The Real Side with Joe Messina" today to weigh in on Facebook's decision to republish the VMSA page.
Facebook took the page down, but, two days ago they reversed their decision and the blasphemous, horrendous page is up....We're getting the short end of the stick.
Bogue went on to explain how 22,000 Catholics had asked the social media site to ban the group. But, considering the sheer size and power of Facebook, coupled with Zuckerberg's atheist beliefs, it seemed liked an uphill battle. That doesn't mean Christians are giving up without a fight, however. Bogue said religious social media users are taking part in a tweetfest Monday to condemn religious discrimination and boycott Facebook advertisers by using the hashtag #ChristiansWontBeSilenced.
I once posted a pro-life infographic on Facebook which, among other "incriminating" features, listed abortion facts and included animated pictures of babies. I was banned from the site for 12 hours. I couldnt even log in. The social network even brought me to its Community Standards page to inform me why I was banned.
Most interesting to me now is the hate speech section, which reads:
Facebook does not permit hate speech, but distinguishes between serious and humorous speech. While we encourage you to challenge ideas, institutions, events, and practices, we do not permit individuals or groups to attack others based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't it cross these Facebook administrators' minds that Christians would feel a bit "attacked" by the "Virgin Mary Should've Aborted" page? After all, Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior and to think He would've been "aborted" is quite unsettling -- not to mention life-changing.
There's nothing wrong with free speech. But there are certainly bright red flags when Facebook makes decisions that suggest it is more sympathetic to one side of the abortion issue than the other.
Messina asked Bogue how Christians can battle and win against the giant that is Facebook.
It's a David-Goliath story. But, if you get a pebble in the right place, you can knock 'em down.
So should’ve Ann Dunham.
Ann Dunham did have an abortion.
Worry not......Facebook will likely be extinct in 10 -15 years.
She should have had at least one more.
Then there would be TWO Barack Obamas.
someone should put up a page
the mother of the creator of the Facebook page “the virgin Mary should have aborted” should have aborted
Anyone who says such things about Mary, or any other iconic figure in religion REALLY, REALLY has a problem with Mary and/or that religion. Mary is the least acerbic of all figures in all religions. Why pick on her? FEAR.
The gates of hell cannot prevail against her.
A Fakebook group can say anything, what’s the big deal?!
This is the same spirit that possessed King Herod. He tried to destroy Jesus at birth. Told the wise men he wanted to go and worship the child.
Then had every child that was born that year ordered slain. And Jesus Mary and Joseph escaped into Egypt.
It’s no big deal. Just more grist for the mill.
Let's just enjoy the joyous. Honor the honorable. Love the lovely.
“Father forgive them for they know not what they do!”
These people have been coming after the church since the day it was born on the day of Pentecost.
Saul of Tarsus who became the Apostle Paul was one of them. : )
I don’t think Mary needs protection from Zuckerburg.
He be needing a little comfort from her son at some point in his life though.
Thank God that this facehooker page doesn’t violate any of their standards. Now let’s see the pages author make the same kind of page featuring mohamed.
Very well said.
They’ll never say “The mother of Mohammad should have aborted”.
On the other hand there the Jesus Daily on FB
Facebook is evil. It is a tool of Satan.
Flame away about your grandkids pictures, family news, etc.
Doesn’t change the basic facts about Facebook.
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
I’ll have to take your word for it, I don’t do FB. Now my dog on the other hand is not as discerning as I and he does have a Facebook account, but only to periodically check on other Mastadors. I just don’t understand the need to throw ones life out there the way my Nieces,Nephews an some friends do. And all of these friend requests, me, I’m just not that friendly.
What’s really interesting about Facebook is that if you type in f**k Islam in their search tool and hit enter, it immediately redirects you to a pro-islamic site called 100% Islam. Anyone who has Facebook, go and try it. Type in just as I wrote it with the asterisks
Well, its not like 2,000 years ago someone did not put him on a cross. There is nothing new or shocking about this and if you are a Christian then you understand that or should.
The question is if they come for you because of your belief in Christ will you foresake the Saviors sacrifice and cower or courageously display your cross.
In other words, this Facebook page that you found is not a sign of the times, it is a sign of all time.
In response to their ugliness, I offer a prayer to the Blessed Virgin.
A bunch of trolls not worthy of my time.
hmmm. I have been wondering how God exacts justice many years after an event and that when asked by those before His throne, “How long?” I now know that those who would murder now, would have murdered if they had lived then. Therefore, when the wrath of God is released on the earth, justice will prevail and those who have been aborted will have their justice. In addition to hell, of course, being where those who would want to murder God’s Only Son will be sent.
10"Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12"Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
19"If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you. 20"Remember the word that I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21"But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me.
Can you image how long an “Ann Dunham should’ve aborted” page would last on Facebook?
Fundamentally, what is now called “liberalism” in America — the politico-intellectual tradition founded in practical terms by the French Revolution — is hatred of the Gospel. The God-Man Jesus, who is the Divine Logos, the very Reason of God, made flesh is an affront to all who make an idol of human reason, or the state, or the flesh.
The odious FaceBook group is merely more open and honest about their attitude than most.
The nature of the pro-abort crowd is becoming more apparent. A lot of pro-lifers are beginning to realize what they’re up against. Also, pro-life sentiment is increasing in the United States.
Facebook is like a high school year book, that rather then being safely stored in the attic collecting dust, you rub in people’s face each time they come to visit.
It encourages idolatry. Rather than post your grand children’s pictures, spend time with your grand children.
