Fort Hood Rampage Trial Interrupted Over Major Hasan's Lack of Defense
ABC News ^ | August 7, 2013 | Russell Goldman

The trial of Major Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people and wounding dozens more in a Fort Hood shooting rampage, was temporarily halted today when a lawyer objected that Hasan was putting up no defense in an effort to get himself executed.

The lawyer's concern brings a touch of the absurd to the trial. Hasan was prevented from pleading guilty because that would have eliminated a trial and the option of a death sentence.

But his feeble defense -- in his opening statement Hasan said, "I am the shooter" -- may ultimately backfire if an appeals court finds his defense was so poor that his trial could not be considered fair.

The government has spent four years and $5 million to guarantee Hasan is given an airtight trial that concludes with a guilty verdict and the possibility of a death sentence....

He wants to die.

I say we keep him alive just to spite him. Let him live in Detroit.

Do they stop a football game for lack of defense?

Hasan should be blitzed and hung from the courtroom ceiling fan.

He wants to die a martyr. Somehow I doubt that the commander in chief will let one of his boys go get helen thomas and 71 other beat up old hag virgins.

What’s the b!tch? Should be able to have the trial over by Friday. Appeals over the weekend and ready to fry the bastard by Tuesday morning ..... since he is so special, bring back the electric chair just for special him. Let the Progressive lawyers moan and play with their wienies as they fry him and then bury his sorry a$$ in a pig sty.

I’ll donate a .45 acp for the cause as long as a freeper gets to pull the trigger.

” a touch of the absurd to the trial.”

Just a touch? Sheesh! The whole trial is a disaster.

Sorry, you lose the bid. I’ll do it for nothing and buy my own bullet.

I don’t drive a very hard bargain either. If anybody thinks they can do it cheaper don’t try to outbid me.

The five million is the money the government has spent on the trial, not how much they have donated to Hasan’s defense.

Why did they allow him to be his own lawyer? Not only has this made this into a $5 million circus trial, his mistakes in court will make years of appeals certain. He should have been quickly tried within a year. It's not like he needed to find obscure witnesses or forensic experts to prove his innocence. Other than insanity what defense could he make? The prosecution should have showed the security tape footage, called a few witnesses and ask them to identify the shooter and rested its case. What would there have been to appeal?

Sadly this is just a foretaste of the Boston Bomber's trial. We will be out millions in court costs when we have the video tape of the kid planting the bomb.

Don’t they fly him by helicopter every day so that he can do his own legal research at a law library? Do you have any idea how expensive helicopters and security are? IIRC, they are paying a civilian jail to house him.

I'll see your $0 and raise you $100 of my own money, AND my own bullet.

Sorry, this is one of those Ebay auctions and I’ve already out bid you. You must raise your bid by a minimum of $50. You could easily do that until bidding ended each and every hour for the next few days and not outbid me.

If this really were a bidding deal you might make a sizable dent in the national debt.

You got it.
He should have been cut into usable organs and the
rest thrown in a landfill a long time ago.

See that Hasan, you’re dead but still you help
the bodies of unbelievers to LIVE. You are the undead and
there is NO paradise FOR YOU.

He should have been cut into usable organs and the rest thrown in a landfill a long time ago.

If he wants to be killed, why should we grant him "martyr" status?

They should keep him alive as they harvest his organs and body parts until nothing is left but the head.

I wonder how long they could keep that alive?

He wants to die and I want him to die. Where's the problem? Four years and $5 million dollars? Meanwhile George "White-Hispanic Enemy of the State" Zimmerman had to beg for contributions to his legal defense fund. See something wrong with this picture?

Plenty.

For a goobermint that's supposedly broke, and now conducts Kangaroo Courts for innocent people, how much was purchasing simple rope at Home Depot FOUR YEARS AGO to help apply justice to self-admitted mass murderers?
