The U.S. Army soldier charged with providing troves of government documents to the whistleblowing website Wikileaks was found not guilty Tuesday of aiding the enemy, the top charge in his 22-count indictment, which could have carried a life sentence.

Manning was convicted of 5 espionage counts

And if you remember, right after this story broke Obama immediately got dont ask dont tell overturned. Why? Because he seen the damage one gay could do to the military. Anything that damages this country he immediately wants more of.
“The folks at Leavenworth dont do Hard Labor any longer.”
What happened? Did they finally put their foot down and say “NO!” ? ;)
Wikileaks involves scores of classified ‘cables’ and documents.. Snowden did indeed compromise our foreign intelligence capabilities that had nothing to do with the NSA eavesdropping on American citizens.
Then, the hammer will fall when they discover that the heteros ostracize them. What kind of hissy fit would you expect when they want out after finding they were fantasizing and reality bites them in the butt.
They are a socially protected class now. No BCDs, no General discharges, only for the good of the service. We'll see this trend within the next four years.
Ancient Sparta was an elitist gang of pederasts who enslaved as many of their neighbors as they could get their hands (a nice change) on. Thebes was nominally on Sparta’s side in the Peloponnesian War against Athens, but after Athens was defeated and its wall torn down, Thebes began to assert itself. Within a few decades the jackass king Agesilaus got Sparta to go to war *again* with Thebes, and convinced his co-king to lead the charge while A stayed home with the kids (ahem). The Battle of Leuktra was the best victory ever won in ancient Greece, destroying the last Spartan army; the Thebans proceeded to march around the formerly enslaved areas and set up fortified towns for the locals, ending Sparta’s hideous slavery-based economy for good.
I see him as a great HERO!! He is not as good as Snowden but what a “Paul Revere”. AND HE IS NOT A TRAITOR. I commend him.
We have seen the enemy and the enemy is US.
It still amazes me that Manning was ever able to get into the position to leak classified info to begin with. Everything I’ve read about the guy and his time in the service prior to the leaks indicates Manning was a basket case from minute one, too ate-up in the head to be trusted with anything. He apparently was even nearly discharged during basic training.
But of course, yes, classical Greece and Rome didn’t really pay that much attention to homosexuality, even among leaders — the decline of the Roman Empire began with the accession of the flaming queen Hadrian, who succeeded the great conqueror Trajan, leader of the Roman Empire at its peak. The difference was, Sparta’s monstrous system made child sexual (and physical abuse beginning in infancy) compulsory.
He released videos supposedly depicting American soldiers killing “innocent” Iraqis in a war zone. He provided propaganda for the enemy, thus helping them recruit and continue fighting.
He should have gotten the whole thing and then put up against a wall and shot. But, I’ll take a 128 years too.
Sparta is debated about; records are scarce as they were a secretive people and it’s their historical foes that have tarred them with accusations of perversion which might be only an inference through the foes’ worldview. We might never know for sure.
Also not to get explicit but I am given to understand the kinds of things done by Greeks (at least) were less “violative” than our common modern practice. The Greeks cannot beat us for hate-olatry.
I’m actually inclined, with the eyes of a Christian worldview on how the spiritual psychology of manhood works, to infer that Spartans probably had very little problem with male on male perversion. Spartans were stern and hung tough together, but probably not cruel, and it’s cruelty that often engenders perversions.
The U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth is a joint facility, the only long term prison in the military service. It is run by the Army and most guards are MP’s. But, there is a Marine Detachment as well.
If true, Manning has to die in prison (an ‘accident’) before he reveals who he was working for.
exactly how would that work? Ouija board? (I SEVERELY KID!)
Our Community Agitator-in-Chief will pardon that filthy little twinkle-toed Marxist on 1/19/2017.If not sooner.
I smell ozone in the air...
The Spartan society is as well documented as any ancient society, including ancient Israel.
Well, Sparta produced no scripture, no faith tradition... I wouldn’t be that glib... freely confessing that most of what I know of Sparta comes from Wikipedia, but the aficionados there do have good reason to try to be complete.
He’s a (poor excuse for a) soldier that was just convicted of 5 counts of espionage and he’s your HERO?
Seems the newby was never in the military.
