Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit commemorative events in Ukraine dedicated to the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia. The visit will take place on July 27-28. The head of the Department for Relations with the Russian Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox community Kirill Frolov shared his comments on Putin's upcoming trip with Pravda.Ru.

"Vladimir Putin's route coincides with the route of his divine patron, Equal to the Apostles Saint Prince Vladimir. The president will first visit key celebrations. July 27 will be the day for the historic prayer, to be attended by the leaders of all local churches, headed by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. Then Putin will travel to Hersonissos in Sevastopol, where he will worship the shrines associated with the adoption of baptism by his patron, Saint Vladimir. In Sevastopol, Putin will also attend the parade of the Black Sea fleet, which historically guards the frontiers of our Orthodox Fatherland.

"The Institute of CIS countries held a conference in 2007 on the fate of Sevastopol. Patriarch Kirill took part in the conference too. That was also the time, when the relics of saint righteous warrior Fyodor Ushakov, Russian naval commander and admiral of the Black Sea Fleet were brought to Sevastopol.

Print version Font Size Send to friend "The fact that Russia, Ukraine and Belarus celebrate the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia confirms the historic Orthodox choice. It is very important that the opponents of this historic choice have stood out. "Mr. Navalny," for example, supports the legalization of gay marriage in Russia - this symbol of anti-Christian European Union. He has thus showed everyone whom he is working for. His people undermine the program of building 200 churches across the country, and one church in Moscow.

Was Vladimir the patron saint of dumping your wife for a woman slightly older than your daughter?

His old man certainly was...

“Vladimir, born in 958, was the natural son and youngest son of Sviatoslav I of Kiev by his housekeeper Malusha.”

Lukashenko, the Belorussian president did the same thing. He hasn't divorced his wife yet, but they live apart and he has fathered a son by his mistress.

As for the Ukrainian president... I don't know if Yanukovych is ever sober long enough to be interested in girls.

Gosh, you think he’s looking to the Popes for an example?

Actually, Prince Vladimir was prince of the Kievan Rus in what is now Kiev, Ukraine. He received priests from Byzantium to baptize his people and to supervise the building of a church in Kiev.

His son, Yaroslav (the wise) ordered the construction of the church of St. Sophia in Kiev, which still stands (1199) and is modeled after the Haigha Sophia in Istanbul.

The northern Rus becamse Christian after the Ukrainians (though they don't like to admit it).

Both Valdimir and Yaroslav were buried in the church of St. Sophia but the Mongol invasion destroyed their tombs.

I mean, come on!

He’s one of the the only leaders in the Western world speaking out out against the “gay tsunami” and your going to pick at him?

Putin is building and consolidating public support for a Russia that aligns itself with Christianity and major traditional religions.

He believes that it will build and empower Russia and himself by inspiring pride and Nationalism.

Novel idea, that one should be proud of their country.

That! And he's the complete antithesis of obama. A real man.

Are you suggesting we should feel man-love for Vladi because he opposes man-love?

Actually, the two are cut of the same cloth. The Russian simply is more professionally tailored.

I just find it odd that our Republic is rushing headlong toward totalitarianism, and you would appear to approve as long as the totalitarian is anti-homo.

Vladimir the Saint had 40 wives during his life so I guess he wouldn’t mind Putin’s divorce.

Claims about Putin from his supporters: He is a true Russian patriot and a sincere Christian who works tirelessly night and day to do what's best for Russians - his opposition to deviant sexual propaganda is driven by Christian compassion.

Claims about Obama from his supporters: He is a real patriotic American and a sincere Christian who works tirelessly night and day to do what's best for Americans - his support for deviant sexual propaganda is driven by Christian compassion.

Actual facts about Putin: he spent his entire adult life as a secret policemen in support of international Communism. His discovery of the Orthodox Church in later life is a cynical political ploy which is clearly belied by his personal behavior. He works tirelessly night and day to consolidate his power, using his executive authority to reward businessmen he likes and to punish and imprison businessmen he hates. He uses his executive authority to spy on his citizens, including journalists, some of whom have died mysteriously under his watch. His opposition to deviancy is political opportunism, not some dedication to principle.

Actual facts about Obama: he spent his entire adult life supporting socialism and internationalism. His discovery of Trinity Church in later life was a cynical political ploy which gave him credibility among black voters but which he abandoned after it lost its political usefulness. He works tirelessly night and day to consolidate his power, using his executive authority to reward businessmen he likes and to punish and audit businessmen he hates. He uses his executive authority to spy on his citizens, including journalists. His support for deviancy is political opportunism.

Two egomaniacal totalitarians claiming to serve their country even as they dismantle the rule of law and undermine free enterprise.

Don’t forget, a significant portion of the Russian Orthodox Church was penetrated or otherwise compromised by the KGB. So for all we know, when Putin is seen as “returning” to the Church, he’s probably just looking up some old buddies.
