The Gang of Eights opponents lay the groundwork for the coming air war.
By Jonathan Strong
Representative Steve Israel (N.Y.), the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, has a tough job ahead: to help Democrats win back the House in 2014. So, naturally, hes delighted that a collection of business groups, coordinating with President Obama and the Senate Gang of Eight, are targeting 100 or so House Republicans on immigration over the August recess.
We will hold Republicans accountable if they continue to obstruct progress on immigration, he tells me, adding that the combined power of business, labor, and popular opinion means that if you dont listen, it will be an issue. Democratic efforts will be formidable, but dont count out the opponents of the Senate immigration bill, who have their own game plan, including focusing attention on Speaker John Boehner.

Over the next few weeks, those tuning in to cable stations and talk radio should expect more of those “conservatives for amnesty” ads like the ones that have been aired over the past few months.
Amen!! Its time to stand up and get in the faces of some of these GOP-e. We need to put the fear of “We The People” into these members. That would include my own representative Woodall here in GA.
“if you dont listen, it will be an issue”
Hilarious coming from a communist Dem
” conservatives for amnesty ads”
The “big money/cheap labor thugs are pulling out all the ammo.
That explains a lot.
says most House Republicans would support a comprehensive bill that is considerably more robust in its trigger structure and enforcement provisions.
There you go, he thinks Tea Party people are toothless hillbillies who will swallow anything with the word "enforcement" in it.
Simpson wants badly to pass some of the piecemeal bills so that the House can go to a conference committee with the Senate, where he hopes the two chambers can strike a deal on a comprehensive bill.
Itching to go and sell us out.
But when I asked him about his colleagues who fear that the outcome of a conference committee would be amnesty for illegal immigrants, he was frank: They have a point, even if he disagrees with where theyre coming from.
IOW they are right about the conference committee, but they just don't fit in with the new Obama-friendly GOP.
Theyre legitimate complaints from their point of view, Simpson says. And I dont know how youre going to do an immigration bill that doesnt [somehow] deal with the 11 or 12 million who are here. Thats going to be a part of any final deal. And thats what stops them from wanting to go to conference, because theyre afraid that will be in any conference report. But I dont know how you do immigration without doing that, he adds.
Res ipsa loquitur.
The argument that passing any amnesty just because its linked to enforcement is suicidal because Obama will just refuse to enforce any part he wants is a very strong political argument, now that Obama delayed enforcement of O-care. I feel very comfortable with this.
This Obama decision is very convenient for us in this national debate.
Now how about ‘the kids’ ?? (newest argument by Bohner)
Every path the GOP can take on 'the kids' is dangerous for us.
Citizenship, no citizenship, and even opposing them are all losers for GOP and winners for libs.
My least dangerous(if I was in charge) idea which no-one would go for , I mean no one(so I am safe), would be to simply make Obamas exec order into a law with some new regulations added. Its Temporary renewed every 5 years and they have to out themselves to get it. And the GOP could use for once : 'Obama is opposing his OWN idea' as payback as they been doing to us over and over.
But in real terms I agree that we must stop anything from reaching Obama;s desk. If Obama sign anything on this it must be bad.,
Thanks. Looks like they are really getting brazen.
The ‘he wont enforce anything he doesn't want to’ argument is very strong now due to recent events.
His delay of O-care fines is front and center.
We are not scared because we know that you are ALL LIARS. WE ARE THE PEOPLE... YOU ARE THE ENEMY... YOU SPEAK LIES TO TRUTH... WE SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER!
August is becoming such a crucial time for the fight in part because it appears increasingly that the House will not touch the issue before departing for recess.
The big money is coming hard, the article describes this process fairly well, just doesn't do justice to the disaster the US will face if the proponents of the bill are successful rather than us.
Keep writing Boehner and Cantor and your rep until they decide, it's the only thing that has keep this from becoming law.
” Every path the GOP can take on ‘the kids’ is dangerous for us.

Correct
” Keep writing Boehner and Cantor and your rep until they decide, it’s the only thing that has keep this from becoming law. “
We may need to march on D.C. Just make it about AMERICAN jobs.
anyone who supports amnesty is a DEM for all intent and purposes
” anyone who supports amnesty is a DEM for all intent and purposes”
Anyone who supports THIS amnesty is a traitor to the United States, PERIOD!
