I had several very, very close friends and team mates who were black and very wealthy.
They would routintely not tip, as a cultural thing, to the point I wouldn’t go out to dinner with them.

Yes, they are reinforcing a reputation that already exists...or being sorry tippers. Of course there are exceptions but overall the reputation is deserved.

At the risk of sounding “racist”, blacks are not generally known as high tippers to begin with. NOthing from nothing is still nothing.
At the risk of sounding RAAAAAACIST.....many waitresses have complained to me that groups of Amish are notoriously lousy tippers.
My son was a waiter at an upscale restaurant, and he said he hated waiting on blacks - because they NEVER tip.

I have been to many restaurants over the years. I have personally
witnessed, on several occasions where the black group seated, would
complain about the food served...after they have cleaned their plate,
not just a bite or two. In all cases, the manager would give them all new
food, where the black group would order it to-go and take it to go.
