When customers walk into her cafe, only to walk straight back out again, Martha-Renée Kolleh insists it has nothing to do with the prices or the decor.
The problem, she says, is racial prejudice.
In an almost exclusively white town, she believes some people do not like being served by a black woman.
So Miss Kolleh, 46, decided to do something about it, posting a notice outside the cafe which reads: Attention! Everyone be aware I am a black woman and always will be. If you are allergic to black people, dont come in.
But if you prefer quality wholesome meals in a pleasant and clean environment, come in. I dont bite!

Well, droll humor is certainly superior to vicious hate. Let her put her sign up. I only wish that whites in black territory could do the same. She probably does serve a nice lunch.

I don’t have a problem. Went to a strip club 3 weeks ago, a black woman after dancing onstage served me beer and..oh you mean, in a restaurant?
I'd definitely walk out if I saw that a restaurant served British food.
Perhaps the UK has changed since I spent quite a bit of time there in the 1980s, but I was always amazed that they never even seemed to notice the color of skin. But, then I realized that their blacks are the same as their whites—no giant chip on their shoulder or disdain for success and education. They were all just Brits with a shared culture and language.
I wonder if she’s been watching Al Sharpton on American TV and she’s the problem and not her skin color?
Whites dont have a problem getting their food served by a black woman. Its other race baiting black people that have told you that lie.
There’s a such thing as British Food? Who knew? And here I thought Kidney Pie and Spotted Dick were medical conditions or movie jokes...
I find it hard to believe that this is still a problem in England, she must be rather unpleasant is my guess. Is she a West Indian? Those dames can get quite cranky.
The irony is that here in the states black people get indignant when they have to serve whites...

Didn’t a ‘Chef’ in America lose her job, TV show, had books cancelled because she want an 1800’s theme wedding, in costume and period styles?
Now we have this woman ‘raising hell’ because (in her ‘feeble’ mind) whites don’t want to be served by her.

I think mostly they want Whites to feel guilty. I don't have a theory about this particular Black women, living in Yorkshire.
Bingo. What’s next, Chinese restaurants having problems serving whites? These race-baiters are something, aren’t they?
And if the food and service are good, I just might become a regular. I appreciate someone who can forthrightly address a problem, rather than just whine about it.

Its really simple. They want to get PAIDDDD by the white man. Its about the dinero. Their outrage is feigned. What else do you expect from liars?

Me neither. I really like Ethiopian food, but Africa is a big place, and doubtless the cuisines vary wildly across the continent. I've had one Liberian dish that was, well, odd. It had little crabs still in the shell, snails and was rather slimy due to an abundance of okra.
I like every Cuban dish I've tried, though.
