Samsung Electronics Co lost $12 billion in market value on Friday, hit by brokerage downgrades that have underscored concerns about slowing sales of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone.
The shares fell 6.2%, the most in more than nine months in Seoul after analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co. cut profit estimates.
Orders for the S4 smartphone, which went on sale last month, are slowing on weak demand in Europe that may impact profit margins, analysts led by JJ Park said in a report dated yesterday, citing supply chain checks. JPMorgan cut its share- price estimate for Samsung by 9.5% to 1.9 million won and lowered its 2013 earnings estimates by 9%.

Question, how much Apple stock are JPMorgan Chase & Co. invested in?
just got mine last week. Love the bigger screen, and calling over wi-fi when a signal is weak (perfect in my house)...
Used to love Samsung until I bought 2 of their TVs that went out just right after the warranty ran out. Each over $1500. They just suddenlywouldnt come on anymore. They wanted $800 to fix one of the TVs and would make no concessions even though they were both arely beyond the warranty period. I looked it up and there were thousands of complaints against them about their TV, hundreds pertaining to the very problem I was having. I no longer buy Samsung products even though they are stylish and nice to look at.
Oops... sorry that was April 27th, 2012, not 13.
You may want to look at LG. I just purchased a 3D 55” wifi ready model and it’s simply amazing. My version had 4 HIDMI inputs and 3 USB inputs. It’s the passive version which means the glasses are cheap, and it’s rated to cost $12.00 per year to used @ 5 hrs per day.
The picture is the best I’ve ever seen.
After replacing my old flat screen, my bi-monthly bill went down from $50 to $75 dollars.
BTW: That bill was once every two months, not bi-monthly.
The S4 was launched too close to the S3, and wasn’t much better other than being faster and a bigger screen.
Samsung should have spaced the launch out further from the S3, and offered less gimmicky items as a draw.
The wi fi calling ..your on t mobile correct?
People love to complain about their electronic devices but what we are able to do today was science fiction not all that long ago.
Samsung normally has excellent monitors/displays. I have a quite a few different types, and no problems... yet.
Amazing technology to watch our every move. Did I tell you about my new car’s up-to-the-minute spying capability?
LOL!!
;)
There were *tons* of Samsung TVs with this problem - plagued with a design defect and inferior parts in their power supply units. There are numerous DIY videos on youtube and how-to-fix-your-Samsung TV web sites showing you how to fix them simply by taking them apart and replacing a few defective caps.
I ended up fixing a 40" Samsung I had with this problem by replacing three 1000uF radial capacitors that had electrolytic leaking from them - rated at only 10V in a circuit that called for 12V-15V. Three new 25V rated parts from Radio Shack at $1.50 apiece, and it's been working good as new over the past couple years.
Granted, the fact that Samsung shipped SO MANY defective TVs with this problem is pathetic. But, at least it was easy to fix yourself if you had the inclination.
I still have two tube televisions. I can not bring myself to replace until they die. Newest one is about ten years old.
I could be wrong but I thought Samsung also builds the iPhone for Apple.
You could, doctor, if that’s your real name. They’re in bloody competition.
its easy to make money when u know next weeks headlines..
I have the S2 and see no need to upgrade.
