Used to love Samsung until I bought 2 of their TVs that went out just right after the warranty ran out. Each over $1500. They just suddenlywouldnt come on anymore. They wanted $800 to fix one of the TVs and would make no concessions even though they were both arely beyond the warranty period. I looked it up and there were thousands of complaints against them about their TV, hundreds pertaining to the very problem I was having. I no longer buy Samsung products even though they are stylish and nice to look at.
You may want to look at LG. I just purchased a 3D 55” wifi ready model and it’s simply amazing. My version had 4 HIDMI inputs and 3 USB inputs. It’s the passive version which means the glasses are cheap, and it’s rated to cost $12.00 per year to used @ 5 hrs per day.
The picture is the best I’ve ever seen.
After replacing my old flat screen, my bi-monthly bill went down from $50 to $75 dollars.
BTW: That bill was once every two months, not bi-monthly.
Samsung normally has excellent monitors/displays. I have a quite a few different types, and no problems... yet.
There were *tons* of Samsung TVs with this problem - plagued with a design defect and inferior parts in their power supply units. There are numerous DIY videos on youtube and how-to-fix-your-Samsung TV web sites showing you how to fix them simply by taking them apart and replacing a few defective caps.
I ended up fixing a 40" Samsung I had with this problem by replacing three 1000uF radial capacitors that had electrolytic leaking from them - rated at only 10V in a circuit that called for 12V-15V. Three new 25V rated parts from Radio Shack at $1.50 apiece, and it's been working good as new over the past couple years.
Granted, the fact that Samsung shipped SO MANY defective TVs with this problem is pathetic. But, at least it was easy to fix yourself if you had the inclination.
