After the Supreme Courts decision labeling Obamacares mandate a tax, the IRS has become the crucial centerpiece of President Obamas health care rollout. But with the IRS targeting of conservative non-profits, Republicans are calling into question the agencys involvement in the application of Obamacare.
On May 23, Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) specifically targeted IRS involvement in Obamacare as a rationale for fighting the program:
And heres another thing we shouldnt be doing: handing over the administration of Obamacare to these folks. I mean, think about it. A deeply unpopular law being administered by an agency thats so betrayed the public trust. Even the IRS staunchest defenders in this scandal describe their actions as a case of horrible customer service. Thats the best they can say: Horrible customer service. And now theyre going to be put in charge of a new trillion-dollar program? One that will give them access to all sorts of sensitive, deeply personal information? Well, thats just what the Administration and congressional Democrats are about to let happen.
McConnell specifically pointed out that the IRS official charged with managing Obamacare was the very same person who led the division of the IRS now embroiled in scandal who oversaw the very office now under fire for the discriminatory and harassing behavior.
McConnell is hardly the only Senator pointing out the nefarious connection between the IRS and Obamacare. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) told Breitbart News, The presidents entire agenda is based on giving more and more power to the same executive branch agencies that have recently demonstrated themselves to either be criminally incompetent or tyrannically corrupt. Obamacare? Expanded gun background checks? Comprehensive immigration reform? Theyre all based on competent collection and ethical use of personal information coerced from the American people by the federal bureaucracy."

John Roberts will go down in history as one of the biggest sell outs in American history and is the perpetrator of a treacherous decision that aids the phony president in his goal of destroying America. Our court's system is strictly political from the top down and needs a drastic overhaul.
Due to his wrong-headed rewriting of Bozocare he allowed this piece of garbage to be enacted as a 'tax'. I believe Roberts is a coward who was easily brow beaten and threatened by Obama who no doubt had "something" on Roberts.
Judge Roberts did do one odd thing, which we may appreciate in the end. By declaring it a tax....you merely need fifty-one votes of the Senate to agree, and then the House agreement, and it’s finished.
You have to see the other side of this. The President and his campaign team fully expected this to be taken down, and it was to be the number one topic for the November election of 2012. By Robert’s vote....it never got anywhere in the election topics. And, at least half of the Democratic Senators will admit in public that the present plan won’t work.
It may be November of 2014 before enough folks are in position, but this whole thing is falling apart.
the original bill, as deemed passed by nancy pelosi and her running dog lackeys had IRS administering the penalties ~ presumably because IRS could inexpensively determine if folks were buying qualifying health insurance.
the good news is that as a tax the republicans can prevent the democrats from using filibuster rules to stop a republican majority senate from pulling the plug.
make sure you blame Roberts for what he did ~ not for what's in that bill. it started as a bad bill. it's still a bad bill. its implementation will be bad. the people involved in the implementation and management are bad. bad bad bad bad bad all the way around.
you can always count on the democrats to come up with unworkable cr*p
Along with targeting conservative groups, let’s not ever forget that Jews who support Israel and Catholics were also targeted!!!
I’ve never understood the excusing of John Roberts. Finding a silver lining in his ruling or admiration of his cleverness or long term thinking, etc.
It seemed fairly simple to me. The supporters and crafters of the bill put forth from the get-go that the mandate fine was a penalty for non-compliance, not a tax. It was governmental power under the commerce clause that they rested their authority on, to foist this on America.
Roberts didn’t need to seize on the “shazaam, it’s a tax after all” argument. All he needed to do was join with the four justices in striking it down.
Then we would not have it.
And I and a majority of Americans would have dropped to our knees and exclaimed, thank you God, and thank you five justices for saving this nation from this ABOMINATION.
Roberts sold us out.
There isn’t any doubt of that.
All 3 of our Government agencies of checks and Balances no longer work.
It was a great system when it was run by individuals with courage who thought for themselves and voted for their constituents, destroyed by the view that power is worth selling us out for.
But they have a whole year to plan and implement....this is critical...
If you don't know what you are trying to do, the chances of doing anything useful are very poor.
When the Democrats, fresh from a 520-18 ass-kicking in the electoral college, decided to remove Nixon, everything they did, everything they said, every investigation, every leak, every committee hearing, every motion - all were designed with a single goal in mind, and they succeeded brilliantly.
It's finished after the President signs the repeal legislation.
“Due to his wrong-headed rewriting of Bozocare he allowed this piece of garbage to be enacted as a ‘tax’. I believe Roberts is a coward who was easily brow beaten and threatened by Obama who no doubt had “something” on Roberts. “........
I’m not so sure Roberts wasn’t blackmailed into making that decision. What about the two adopted kids he has that were supposedly gotten illegally? Could be a possibility if it is found to be true.
The same U.S. Supreme Court actually refused to hear other legal challenges to "ObamaCare" -- for now -- on the perfectly valid grounds that nobody had the proper standing to challenge it at the time. This was because those legal challenges relate to provisions of "ObamaCare" that don't take effect until 2014, which means a plaintiff in a lawsuit can't file the suit until he/she/it can demonstrate that they've actually been harmed in some way that requires legal remedies.
The next round of challenges to "ObamaCare" will be far more daunting, because they will be brought once the full impact of that idiotic law is felt by many Americans. The HHS waivers and many of the HHS mandates, for example, will face some very stiff legal challenges that will be easier for plaintiffs to argue now that the Court has decided that the law is legally a tax matter.
Roberts did, in effect, fix the piece of totalitarian crap so it could go forth. He kissed Bozo’s backside.

Roberts, and several others, don't believe the Supreme Court should be used to rewrite legislation ~ that that is Congress' job.
Unfortunately the GOP-e decided we should run our weakest possible candidate for President..........
If he'd gone with 3 of them, he wouldn't have written the decision ~ one of the other 5 would have.
Roberts knows how the votes went.
