I know two former homosexuals personally, that went to counseling.
The woman about a year later got married has a bucket full of children and leads a very happy life.
The male was very unsure but became a Born Again Christian and lives a celebrate life.
I also know (acquaintances) several homosexuals who hate who they are.....

I remember reading how it was done back in the 1950s.
A man was shown photos of naked people. If he only got excited when he saw the photo of a man, he was given an electric shock.

Don’t know if it worked or not but there seemed to be less queers back then. We didn’t even know what they were till we were in our late teens. We always thought a “queer” was a person that was just strange.

When we found out what they were, we had a hard time comprehending it as it just was not right.

Wow, what a fair article.

No mention of the recent studies conducted by New Zealand geneticists that showed sexuality to be extremely fluid.

And of course, the appeal to authority. “The APA says its not an illness, you know!”
The APA are politicized hacks, no more reliable than astrologers. They change their categorization based on protests, not results.

It fits every criteria of a mental illness. Every single one. It is also lethal and immoral. You can judge this condition based on the company it keeps.

Liberace - pederast
Harry Hay - NAMBLA ally
Harvey Milk - chums with Jim Jones

LiveScience aka dead science.

“Psychology” is rather feeble when faced with a spiritual problem. Paraphilias are spiritual problems.

Do queers really want to bring up the subject of the nonscientific way that homosexuality was remove from the DSM? Really?

Do they really want us to remind them that it was a political charade devoid of scientific facts, instead relying on two shaky "studies," one by a homosexual pedophile who studied pathological prison populations and the rape of small children and the other by a politically motivated hack who merely interviewed her homosexual friends and gave them Rorschach tests to determine psychological health?

Do they really want us to bring up the well-documented extreme harassment of APA members over years, the deceit employed in the voting process, and the bizarre, obscene behavior of activist homosexuals as they took over APA conventions and meetings?

Do they really think any of this is normal?

Well, Star, I did look. It looks like a rather lightweight, cherry picked critique which, furthermore, mostly dealt with psychology-based rather than spirituality-based counseling. Spirituality, when tied into a small-o orthodox Christian faith, can be quite powerful. Homosexuality or other paraphilia can be a spiritual “flat tire” permitted by a God who is interested in saving an entire soul. The person thus helped isn’t going to bother being interviewed by atheistic or weak-God scientists any more than the blind man who Jesus gave his sight would bother.

But mainstream psychologists say the therapy is ineffective, unethical and often harmful, exacerbating anxiety and self-hatred among those treated for what is not a mental disorder.

Of course they do especially since they now make big bucks convincing them that gay is normal, since they changed their own diagnosis of theabnormality, of homosexuality.

Sorry, I personally know people who experimented with their sexuality as young people and who landed on their feet. Human sexuality is complex and subject to all kinds of things, and sometimes gets intertwined with addictive disorders. Therefore, yes, it is tougher for some than for others to control. But, it is still a continuum.

It really comes down to accepting Gods design and not rebelling against it. Like any other sin, we have to ask God to heal us, and to help us be victorious over the besetting sin, the practice of homosexuality is the sin, not the feelings.

Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise. Jer 17:14

Gay conversion Reorientation therapy, as it is known, supposedly helps gay confused people overcome same-sex attractions.

And the surprising facts for this author would be that it actually works and that often the reorientation occurs with little to no therapy needed.

I bit, and went through their thing on the website. Circular logic.

Basically, they said that since homosexuality is not a mental disorder, any treatment for it falls outside of mainstream psychological treatment. As a result, it cannot possibly work, and what little research there is on the matter supports this, including the two major lawsuits currently pending on the matter.

So, for those trying to follow this:

It doesn’t work because the APA voted on homosexuality NOT being a mental disease in 1973. Only a psychologist can treat a mental disorder, and they voted that it wasn’t.

All of this from a website with ‘science’ in the title.

The best part was in the last slide, where one reputed psychologist did a study indicating that conversion therapy DOES work. But, they added that the reputed psychologist later ‘recanted’ the study based on the methodology of it.

So, the study was flawed, but the way the APA concluded homosexuality wasn’t a mental disoder was by a show of hands at a convention. That’s literally how it happened - they voted on it, and it disappeared from the DSM IV.

That’s how climate chance became science - by polling.

Any science that is divided into two groups with these titles - believers and deniers - isn’t a science. Quad era demonstratum.

Let me begin first with the elimination of the false premise that the house of cards is built upon.

There are no 'gay' people. Let me repeat: There are no 'gay' beings! There is no scientific evidence, no objective identification method. It is all about activity that some may be predisposed to and or CHOOSE to engage in.

There is a reason there was a don't ask don't tell policy in the military -the only reason there could be one. BECAUSE there are no 'gay' beings.

As such 'conversion' therapy as it is called by those who spread propaganda is not about converting a 'gay' beings into a normal beings. That would be magic. The same magic the leftists employed when they created these non existent 'gay' beings that are supposedly victimized by normal people. Victims that need to be saved by government is a leftist thing.

No, conversion therapy is all about behavioral science. It is about changing behaviors and NOT about magic -NOT even about reversing the supposed rainbow 'gay' magic the left promotes.

One could stop here. After all, the whole premise that this article is planted upon is false -it is plain and simple PROPAGANDA posted on FR...

However, I will read the propaganda so kindly posted on FR because a reason to laugh needs no excuse AND the 'gay' being magical fairy stories are always funny and yet as well sad -one can sympathize with the human aspect of these poor souls who simply want to be accepted in spite of the fact that they engage in and promote such perverted activities that society rightly rejects and justly discriminates against.

'Gay' beings and man made global warming are birds of a feather -both are fabrications created by the left to promote an agenda. For any interested, here are links to a legitimate scientific based RATHER than illegitimate politically motivated resource on this topic.

General information:

NARTH: National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality

Information specific to the topic:

Reorientation Therapy Includes Many Different Mainstream Approaches to Therapy (middle of the page)

excerpt:

Reorientation therapy is simply psychological care aimed at helping clients achieve their goals regarding their sexual attractions, sexual orientations and/or sexual identities. Reorientation is not decidedly different from other therapies. There are many psychological approaches to helping clients with unwanted homosexual attractions. All approaches supported by NARTH are mainstream approaches to psychotherapy. The term "Reparative Therapy" refers to one specific approach which is psychodynamic in nature, but not all who offer therapy aimed at orientation change practice Reparative Therapy. Critics sometimes use the phrase 'reparative therapy' to describe reorientation therapy. This may be misconstrued to support a view pathologizing homosexuality, and that this is the only therapeutic modality used in reorientation therapy. Both inferences are incorrect. The members of NARTH are diverse in their training and in their approaches. Like other therapists, most clinical members of NARTH practice whatever type of therapy they were trained to practice, including but not limited to: interpersonal therapy, cognitive therapy, family therapy, behavioral therapy, EMDR, and psychodynamic approaches of which Reparative Therapy is one type. Quite simply, this is psychotherapy, nothing more and nothing less.

NARTH is often described by journalists with terms that are not used by NARTH or its members. For example, NARTH is sometimes "branded" as offering a "cure" for homosexuality, implying that NARTH views homosexuality as a disease. NARTH does not view homosexuality as mental illness; rather, homosexuality is an adaptation that is distressful for some people. Another inaccurate description is "conversion" therapy, a term not used by NARTH members. This term seems to imply some type of force or the idea of a therapist pressuring a client to change. NARTH therapists understand that psychotherapy should never be coercive, but should be offered in accordance with professional ethics and a respect for client self-determination. Neither do NARTH members offer or provide "aversion therapy." This form of behavioral therapy was used in the 1960's and 1970's to treat many different types of presenting problems, one of which was unwanted homosexual thoughts and feelings. However, aversion therapy was deemed unethical and was discontinued over 25 years ago, prior to NARTH's existence. NARTH encourages all of its members to abide by the highest standards of ethicality, which by definition would exclude any form of aversive therapy.

NARTH encourages its members to assist those who seek help for unwanted homosexual attractions, attractions which seldom occur in isolation from other issues commonly treated in therapy. More often than not, other issues become a part--and even the primary focus--of the care provided. Such issues might include past sexual abuse or trauma, family relationships, a weak sense of self, gender insecurity, depression, hopelessness, self-hatred, or any other issue that is problematic for the client. Many NARTH therapists report that once these other issues are addressed, issues regarding sexual attractions, identity, and orientation are easier to resolve.
